Building a giant scaffolding to "save" Hon Vong Phu on the mountain top
After being approved to spend 17 billion VND, the Thanh Hoa province's cultural sector is building a huge scaffolding system on top of Nhoi mountain to "save" Hon Vong Phu.
Hon Vong Phu scenic relic is located in the An Hoach Mountain Art and Scenic Relic Complex (also known as Nhoi Mountain; An Hung Ward, old Thanh Hoa City - now Dong Quang Ward, Thanh Hoa Province). It is a stone pillar about 20 m high, resembling a woman holding a child. This relic was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Monument in 1992, along with Dinh Thuong relic, Hinh Son Pagoda, Quan Thanh Pagoda, and the Tomb of Man Quan Cong Le Trung Nghia.

In 2022, this relic was struck by lightning many times, causing a landslide of a 1x3 m (West) and a 2.5x3 m (East) rock block. Many cracks appeared, and the rock was tilted vertically from 10 to 15 degrees, at risk of collapsing if it continued to be struck by lightning.
To find conservation solutions, at the end of 2023, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province organized a scientific workshop, consulting with experts and scientists .
To "save" Hon Vong Phu, the construction unit erected a huge scaffolding system more than ten meters high on top of Nhoi mountain surrounding the rock block that was previously struck by lightning, to carry out reinforcement plans.
The scaffolding system was installed from the foot of the mountain, pulled up to the top of Nhoi mountain.
In May 2024, Thanh Hoa City People's Committee built a lightning protection system with a total cost of more than 800 million VND right next to the relic, and at the same time built fences and warning signs strictly prohibiting people from going up the mountain to visit and burn incense.
However, for long-term preservation, Thanh Hoa province has decided to approve 17 billion VND to reinforce Hon Vong Phu by drilling holes to extract cores, then reinforcing with steel fibers filled with SIKA GROUT 214-11 mortar to reinforce along the vertical direction.
The construction unit built a winch system to transport materials to the top of the mountain.

When pumping SIKA grout, the grout will be inserted into the cracks on the borehole wall, covering the D14 steel fibers to form strong fibers that can withstand tension and compression to prevent cracks from developing, and bundle the separate elements of the block due to cracking and crumbling into a solid block that cannot be separated. Completion time before December 31, 2025.
From above, around Nhoi mountain are villages, residential areas and rocky mountains left behind by the jagged quarries.

According to records, after the 17 billion VND budget was approved, the construction unit urgently implemented the work of reinforcing the project. Up to now, the construction unit has built a huge scaffolding system, stretching from the foot to the top of Nhoi mountain to reinforce and save Hon Vong Phu.
