Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh leaves Brazil for Dominican Republic

On the afternoon of November 19 (Brazil time), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife left Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) for the capital Santo Domingo of the Dominican Republic.

At around 4:35 p.m. on November 19 (Brazil time, or 2:35 a.m. on November 20 Vietnam time), the plane carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife took off from Galeao military airport (Brazil), bringing the Vietnamese leader to the Dominican Republic.

This is his last stop on a business trip to Brazil and the Dominican Republic from November 16 to 21.

The trip also made Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh the first key Vietnamese leader to visit the Dominican Republic since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 2005.

According to Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Thanh Binh, the trip is expected to create momentum to promote the expansion of economic, trade and investment relations between the two countries, especially in potential areas such as agriculture, industry, construction materials production, export processing zone business, energy - oil and gas, telecommunications and tourism.

At the first stop, Brazil, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had 4 days full of activities from morning to night.

On bilateral issues, the Prime Minister held talks with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on November 18. During the talks, the two leaders agreed to adopt a joint statement on upgrading relations to a Strategic Partnership.

The two leaders also directed the leaders of the two Foreign Ministries to promptly develop and complete the contents of the Vietnam - Brazil Strategic Partnership as soon as possible.

The two sides agreed to coordinate in implementing measures to strengthen bilateral relations commensurate with the new framework, including increasing delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, especially at high levels.

Brazilian President Lula da Silva also positively acknowledged Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's proposals for Brazil to recognize Vietnam's market economy status, as well as to soon launch negotiations on a free trade agreement with the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) in 2025 to bring practical benefits to both sides and contribute to the development of each country.

Within the framework of the G20 Summit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the launching ceremony of the Global Alliance to Fight Poverty, chaired by President Lula da Silva, making Vietnam one of the founding countries of the alliance.

The Head of the Vietnamese Government then attended and spoke at the discussion session on poverty reduction, sustainable development - energy transition; and attended the discussion session on reforming the global governance system.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's participation and responsible contribution at the conference were highly appreciated by G20 countries and guests, demonstrating Vietnam's growing stature, role, prestige and international position in addressing global challenges.
