The Vietnamese women's team is about to complete the first week of training to prepare for the AFF Cup 2025. It is expected that next week, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will go to Quang Ninh to continue training to improve their physical strength.

Speaking to the press on the afternoon of July 18, Coach Mai Duc Chung said he had reminded the players during the week off after the Asian Women's Qualifiers to maintain physical training on site and should only rest for 2 to 3 days. Therefore, when they returned to the team, the whole team adapted well to the intensity required by the coaching staff.

Evaluating the training results after the first week of the players, coach Mai Duc Chung said: "Despite the hot weather, the whole team's training spirit is commendable. The only unfortunate case is that Tuyet Ngan suddenly had an appendectomy during the training session with everyone. Therefore, the coaching staff will let Tuyet Ngan return home to be cared for by her family, thereby quickly recovering.

The good news is that Thanh Nha will start returning with the team from next week. The team is generally complete to prepare for training in Quang Ninh."

In the upcoming training trip, the coaching staff aims to improve the physical strength of the team in the sea and the overall endurance of the whole team. Coach Mai Duc Chung also commented that the 2025 AFF Cup will be more difficult because many Southeast Asian teams have naturalized. Among them, the opponent Indonesia (in the same group as Vietnam) has naturalized the whole team.

Regarding the young players called up for this training session, coach Mai Duc Chung said the coaching staff has been selective.

The coaching staff also always reminds young players to always be confident and determined. The coaching staff is ready to let young players compete if they are in good form," the 76-year-old coach emphasized.

Veteran striker Huynh Nhu shared before the afternoon practice session on July 18: "The young players are trying very hard, practicing and learning at the same time, so they should improve. Currently, Huynh Nhu and the players are trying to support each other. As for professional issues, the coaching staff will specifically evaluate them."

Huynh Nhu said that when joining the national team, in addition to completing the training plan of the coaching staff, the player currently playing for the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club also focused on personal nutrition and resting well to meet the training sessions.

"The 2025 AFF Cup will be difficult. The opponents are getting stronger and have also improved a lot with naturalized players. At this stage, the Vietnamese women's team is also getting younger, but I believe the whole team will try. Playing at home with the support of fans will be the motivation for the Vietnamese women's team to be determined to win," Huynh Nhu shared.

The next plan of the Vietnamese women's team continues to be divided into 2 phases, in which Huynh Nhu and her teammates will continue to train in Cam Pha (Quang Ninh) for 10 days (from July 20 to July 29).

In the final stage, the whole team will move to Hai Phong from July 30 to settle down, get familiar with the stadium and prepare to enter the AFF Cup 2025, a tournament in which the Vietnamese team will be the host team.

In Group A, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will meet opponents Cambodia, Indonesia and Thailand at Lach Tray Stadium on August 6, August 9 and August 12.
