The book “Vietnam - A Perspective from Japan” is the result of more than half a century of research and attachment to Vietnam by Professor, Dr. Furuta Motoo.
From the daily activities of the people, cultural beliefs, social behavior, to macro issues such as the history of building and defending the country, the reform - innovation process, international integration and the geopolitical role of Vietnam in the region, the book sketches a panoramic picture of Vietnam through the unique perspective and approach of a foreign scholar.
Previously, Professor, Dr. Furuta Motoo had many research works on Vietnam, of which 3 works have been translated into Vietnamese and published in Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh - National Liberation and Innovation (National Political Publishing House, 1997); Vietnam in World History (National Political Publishing House, 1998); The 1945 Famine in Vietnam - Historical Evidence (Social Sciences Publishing House, 2005; Knowledge Publishing House, 2011 and Truth National Political Publishing House, 2016 and 2022). The book "Vietnam - A Perspective from Japan" this time is his fourth work published by Truth National Political Publishing House.
Mr. Ito Naoki - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam added: “The book does not simply look at Vietnam through a one-sided lens, but provides readers with clues to understand Vietnam in a multidimensional way based on historical and social contexts. Thanks to that, many Japanese readers have had the opportunity to learn more deeply about Vietnam. I think that the publication of this Vietnamese edition will be a meaningful opportunity for the Vietnamese people to look back at their country from a new perspective, through the lens of a Japanese scholar.”
It can be seen that the book “Vietnam - A view from Japan” was launched on a meaningful occasion. Not only is it a carefully researched scientific work, the book is also a vivid symbol of the sincere and strong friendship between the two countries of Vietnam and Japan.
