900 students who failed 10th grade in Hanoi have the opportunity to enter 2 new public high schools

According to the announcement of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, two newly established high schools, Do Muoi and Phuc Thinh, are recruiting 900 students for grade 10, regardless of region.

Accordingly, Phuc Thinh High School and Do Muoi High School are each allowed to enroll 450 students. The condition is that the candidates do not pass any public school application, and have a score of 12 or higher in three subjects: Math, Literature, and Foreign Language. Candidates are not bound by the enrollment area.

Students register on the city's primary school admission portal from 8:00 a.m. on July 19 to midnight on July 22. During this time, students can change their preferences if they want.

Students will be considered from high to low until the quota is met. Before 10:00 a.m. on July 24, the list of successful candidates will be announced at the school and the Department of Education and Training's information portal. Successful candidates will submit their application to the school from 8:00 a.m. on July 28 to 5:00 p.m. on July 30.

Along with that, 8 schools lowered their admission scores for grade 10 public high schools in the 2025-2026 school year, including: Yen Hoa, Quang Oai, Tan Lap, My Duc C, Phuc Tho, Kim Anh, Tung Thien, Xuan Khanh High Schools. Of these, Tung Thien High School lowered the highest score by 2.25 points. Xuan Khanh High School ranked next with a 1-point reduction. The remaining schools were all below 1.

The 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi this year took place over two days, June 7-8. This was the most crowded 10th grade exam in the country, with nearly 103,000 candidates participating, completing the three subjects of Math, Literature and Foreign Language (mostly English), to get the score to enter non-specialized public 10th grade. Of which, about 13,000 candidates registered to take the additional specialized subject exam on June 9.

On July 4, the Department announced the benchmark scores of 119 public schools. In the non-specialized group, Yen Hoa High School and Le Quy Don High School (Ha Dong) led with 25.5 points. Following were Viet Duc High School and Phan Dinh Phung High School with 25.25 points.

Among specialized schools, the Chemistry specialized class of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted has the highest score with 42.75/50 points; the English specialized class of this school has the second highest score with 41.15 points.
