Thu Huong and Huynh That are a pair of troubled lovers in the musical Waiting for someone.

On the evening of August 16, at Ben Thanh Theater, two young bolero singers Thu Huong and Huynh That transformed into a couple who love each other deeply but cannot be together.

Thu Huong is only 19 years old this year, but for the first time trying out the musical genre, she immediately took on the main character, Ms. Huong in Waiting for someone .

Thu Huong conquers bolero

Waiting for someone is a love story of women in a rural area. Each person has different situations but the main thing is the weariness, waiting and then having to live in the sadness of separation.

There, there are two young people, Huong (Thu Huong) and Hung (Huynh That). The play is a story that spans from when they first fell in love, their initial innocent feelings until Hung had to leave his hometown to make a living.

Then the longing, followed by bad news, misunderstandings, then waiting and finally the end of a sad love story.

From that line, the crew inserted more than 20 bolero songs familiar to audiences who love this music genre.

Taking on the main roles, Thu Huong and Huynh That each performed more than ten songs in the play and sang live.

The main characters in Waiting for You are mostly very young singers. The songs in the play are so familiar to bolero-addicted audiences that they can sing along while watching.

More precisely, this is a music night serving bolero music lovers, borrowing a slightly newer format, with a story to integrate suitable songs, instead of introducing each song sequentially like regular programs.

Bolero singers who try musical theater for the first time still have many difficulties. For example, their dialogue is not clear, their emotions are not enough, so they need to try harder in the next programs.

But it is also the crew's effort to bring a new way to bolero music nights, and in the near future there will also be shows dedicated to traditional music .

Thu Huong is known as a child singer who participated in many music competitions at the age of 10. Huong is currently studying at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, specializing in chamber music.
