Hai Phong artists are urgently practicing and preparing for special performances at the National Exhibition '80 Years of the Journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness' taking place in Hanoi.

Ready for a major cultural event

The afternoon practice session at the Cai Luong Troupe (Hai Phong Traditional Theater) was filled with the sounds of drums, clappers, and singing, combined with the director's calls. The artists sang and danced, accompanied by the orchestra. Sweat fell on the practice floor, but everyone's eyes were filled with joy, showing their determination to bring the art of the Port City closer to the public nationwide. Just leaving the practice floor for the performance of Dem Ganh Hao listening to Hoai Lang tune , Meritorious Artist Kim Oanh confided: "Being able to participate in the program of this Exhibition is a great honor. My colleagues and I have put all our efforts into it, hoping to bring the audience both profound and brilliant moments, to see that Hai Phong's traditional art is always alive...".

According to the plan, Hai Phong Traditional Theater will perform 3 nights with colorful programs: "Hai Phong - A folk feature" combining cheo, cai luong, puppetry, and hat van; "Hai Phong invites friends from all over" with a cheerful and liberal tone; "Rang ro Hai Phong" concludes with elaborate performances praising the coastal city. Director of Hai Phong Traditional Theater Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy said: "The 3 programs are staged not only for performance, but also as a message about Hai Phong's cultural identity. The artist hopes that Hanoi audiences and international friends will feel the uniqueness of the folk culture from the Port City as well as the modern vitality in each performance".

The rehearsal atmosphere at Hai Phong Contemporary Arts Theater is also very exciting. The unit will participate in 3 nights of performances, focusing on youthful music and dance programs, new arrangements for familiar songs, combined with the image of a city that is changing, reaching out to the sea. Theater Director, People's Artist Khanh Hoa shared: "We aim for a modern look, reflecting the youthful vitality of Hai Phong today. Music, choreography, and images all aim to affirm the spirit of integration and creativity of artists of the coastal city."

Meanwhile, the Eastern Cheo Theater is preparing 2 nights of performances with a traditional orchestra with 2 ensemble pieces, 8 solo pieces and famous Cheo excerpts such as Quan Am Thi Kinh, Tuan ti dao Hue ... "We want the audience in the capital not only to listen, but also to feel that they are living in the cultural space of the North. This is also an opportunity for the Eastern Cheo art to affirm its position in contemporary life." - Director of the Eastern Cheo Theater Do Thi Khanh Huong informed

Creating and preserving artistic values

Hai Phong's participation in the National Achievements Exhibition is not only an important highlight in the series of activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, but also an event that gathers the quintessence of art, promoting the image of Hai Phong - a heroic, dynamic, creative Port City, an Eastern land with a long-standing cultural tradition.

The program brings together hundreds of artists, artisans, and actors, and is elaborately staged on a large scale, combining fine art exhibitions, photography, dramatization, and contemporary art performances. In addition to the main performances, there will be heritage exchange activities such as puppetry, singing, reformed opera, folk songs, and street art. All are in the "polishing" stage to create attractive works. From props that must be carefully checked, to costumes that must be meticulously edited, and sound and light that coordinate harmoniously with the artists.
