Message from the President of Fulbright University Vietnam to new students: 'Decoding and Shaping'

In a world of constant change, where technology and artificial intelligence are reshaping the way we live, learn and work, young people need more than a degree to navigate the future. They need the ability to think critically, the flexibility to adapt, and the courage to make their mark.

That is also the spirit that Fulbright University Vietnam conveyed in the Opening Ceremony of the Class of 2029, with the theme "Decode and Define". Not simply the beginning of a school year, the ceremony is also an invitation for a new generation of students to embark on a four-year university journey - a journey to understand the complex world and at the same time shape their own path.

Established in 2016, Fulbright University Vietnam not only provides international standard education in Vietnam, but also nurtures a generation of young people who are curious, daring and creative, aiming for comprehensive development in thinking and character. In that spirit, the Opening Ceremony of the Class of 2029 took place in a warm and open atmosphere, not only as a welcome, but also as a special occasion to send meaningful messages, opening up a four-year journey of discovery and growth ahead.

Message from the President of Fulbright University Vietnam

In her welcoming speech, Dr. Dinh Vu Trang Ngan - President of Fulbright University Vietnam - sent a warm welcome to the Class of 2029 with the theme "Decoding and Shaping". Dr. Ngan emphasized that "decoding" is the core of Fulbright's mission: understanding the world, embracing complexity and discovering one's true passions; while "shaping" is the process of creating, learning and growing so that each student can make their own mark.

From there, the Doctor encourages new students to cultivate three core qualities throughout their journey at Fulbright University Vietnam. First, a mind that knows how to ask questions, dares to explore, thinks critically and confidently chooses their own path. Second, a heart that knows how to love, cherish the love of parents, family, teachers, friends and the community that has accompanied them, thereby spreading kindness not only on campus but also in society. Third, the courage to create and act: dare to decide, dare to try, accept failure in order to stand up and grow.

In addition to the message from the school, the ceremony also left an impression with the passionate sharing of Mr. Henry Nguyen - Chairman of Phoenix Holdings and member of the Board of Trustees of Fulbright University Vietnam. As the Honorary Speaker, he sent students three lessons: Courage - daring to choose bold paths to open up new opportunities; Faith - steadfast in core values ​​and finding strength from family and community; and Compassion - nurturing empathy, respecting differences and using knowledge to build a better society.

From family to student: Belief in a common journey

Continuing the meaningful sharing, Mr. Ngo Nhat Linh - Representative of parents of new students of the class of 2029 - brought an emotional perspective from parents who sent their children to Fulbright University Vietnam. He emphasized that the decision to choose Fulbright came from the liberal education philosophy, from the story, people and aspirations that Fulbright has pursued since its establishment. He shared: "The family does not expect their children to become perfect, but rather hopes that they learn to stand up after falling, learn to listen, understand and love in a world of many differences."

Vo Huynh Quoc Thai, President Scholarship recipient, shared: "As a student majoring in Mathematics, thanks to the opportunity to participate in debate in high school, I realized that my passion lies not only in numbers, but also in understanding social issues and working with disadvantaged groups. It is the spirit of community service and the liberal education program that trains interdisciplinary training at Fulbright that inspired me to choose the dual major of Applied Mathematics and Social Studies. I hope that mathematics will become a tool to help me contribute to solving practical problems in society."

At the end of the ceremony, new students of Fulbright University Vietnam recited the Honor Oath for the next 4 years of study.

The Convocation Ceremony of the Class of 2029 not only marks the beginning of a four-year university journey, but also a commitment from Fulbright University Vietnam: always accompanying students on the path to deciphering the world and shaping their own mark.
