Weather on August 29: Tropical depression causes strong winds in the East Sea

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 a.m. on August 29, a tropical depression in the North East Sea, about 320km east-southeast of Hoang Sa sea, with winds of level 6-7, gusting to level 9, moved west at a speed of 10km/hour.

Forecast for the next 24 hours, the North East Sea and Hoang Sa sea area will have strong winds of level 6-7, near the center of low pressure level 8, gusts of level 10, waves 3-5m high, rough seas.

In the South China Sea and Truong Sa sea area, the southwest wind is level 6-7, gusting to level 8-9, waves of 2-4m; in the sea area of ​​Khanh Hoa - Ho Chi Minh City, the southwest wind is level 6, gusting to level 7-8. On the night of August 29, in the North of Bac Bo Gulf and the sea area from Nghe An to Thua Thien Hue, the wind gradually increases to level 6-7, near the center of the low pressure level 8, gusting to level 9-10, the sea is very rough.

From the evening of August 29 to the night of August 30, the North and Da Nang City will have moderate to heavy rain, with total rainfall ranging from 70-150mm, locally over 300mm. The area from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue will have heavy to very heavy rain, with rainfall exceeding 450mm in some places. Warning of heavy rain intensity over 150mm/3 hours, risk of flash floods, landslides and widespread flooding.

The Meteorological Agency has warned people in the northern mountainous region and the North Central region to be on guard against prolonged heavy rains; fishermen operating in the East Sea need to regularly monitor and proactively respond to strong winds and big waves.
