(Baothanhhoa.vn) - On August 31, in the Northern region and the area from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms. Warnings of localized heavy rains that can cause flash floods on rivers and small streams; landslides on steep slopes; and flooding in low-lying areas.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, last night and early this morning (August 31), the Northern Delta region, from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh , had moderate to heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain.

Forecast for today and tonight, August 31, in the Northern region and the area from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall of 15-35mm, locally over 100mm.

On the afternoon and evening of August 31, from Quang Tri to the east of Quang Ngai , the Central Highlands and the South, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 10-30mm, locally over 80mm.

Warning of risk of heavy rain (>80mm/3 hours).

Thunderstorms may produce tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rains may cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas.
