On July 4, in Hanoi , the Vietnam Sports Administration officially announced the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in sports training, starting with the signing of a cooperation agreement with Dreamax Company.
In the immediate future, the Vietnam Sports Administration will select teams including archery, shooting, boxing and taekwondo to pilot the technology to evaluate the effectiveness of training support and improve athlete performance.
Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet said that from now until the end of 2025, a data integration model will be built to be included in the training program, as a basis for expanding to many other sports in the future. It is expected that the construction of athlete data will be linked to localities. Thereby, ensure that there is complete data on athletes from the beginning of high-performance sports training, helping coaches to accurately assess athletes.
According to the plan, the construction of the athlete database in the above 4 sports will start next week. Data is collected from specialized equipment, competition results, and training results integrated through specialized software. The collection and use of data must ensure confidentiality because this is an asset within the scope of national data, managed directly by the Vietnam Sports Administration.
Dreamax Company representative affirmed that data serves three goals: supporting state management; optimizing training to improve performance; effectively organizing and arranging professional evaluation indicators to serve the public.
The AI application cooperation program between the Vietnam Sports Administration and Dreamax will be implemented according to the roadmap for the period 2025-2030.
