THACO AUTO exports luxury buses MERCEDES-BENZ RS 1936 to the Thai market

The Mercedes-Benz RS 1936 luxury bus designed and manufactured by THACO AUTO has just been introduced and exported to Thailand, thereby affirming THACO AUTO's ability to master technology and product quality that meets international standards.

Luxury bus “made in Vietnam”, European quality

Mercedes-Benz RS 1936 is a high-end bus line researched and developed by the THACO AUTO R&D Center's engineering team on the latest Mercedes-Benz chassis platform. The vehicle is designed and manufactured at THACO Bus Factory (Chu Lai, Quang Nam ), meeting the strict technical requirements, production processes and quality standards of Mercedes-Benz globally.

Possessing a bold European design, the Mercedes-Benz RS 1936 stands out with its luxurious appearance and sophisticated interior. The interior uses environmentally friendly materials, meeting ECE 118, ECE 43, ECE R80 standards. Details such as passenger seats, lighting systems, high-capacity air conditioning systems (34,000 Kcal/h)... are all optimized for Asian users, suitable for tropical climate conditions, ensuring comfort and performance throughout the journey.

High-class interior space, using environmentally friendly materials.

In terms of technology, the car uses a Mercedes-Benz engine with a capacity of 360 horsepower, a ZF Traxon - AMT automatic transmission with integrated pneumatic power steering, and BlueTec 5 exhaust treatment technology that meets Euro V standards.

In particular, for the structure and operation, the R&D team has researched and optimized the chassis structure, combining the chassis and monocoque body, using up to 82% of high-strength steel in an arc design, improving rigidity and flexible control. The car is upgraded with many safety features such as: blind spot warning system (BSA), lane departure warning system (LDWS), adaptive cruise control (ACC), hill start assist system, 5th generation active emergency braking (ABA5) combined with ZF Retarder electromagnetic brake...

Speaking at the Mercedes-Benz RS 1936 luxury bus product introduction program, Mr. Harald Schmid - Managing Director of Daimler Truck Southeast Asia shared: "I am very impressed with the scale, technological chain, especially the outstanding R&D capacity of THACO AUTO. This will be a solid foundation to make THACO AUTO become the Mercedes-Benz vehicle manufacturing center in the ASEAN region".

Mastering technology, participating deeply in the global value chain

Over the years, THACO AUTO has continuously invested in upgrading technology, increasing R&D capacity and developing a smart and sustainable production ecosystem. In 2024, THACO AUTO invested in and upgraded the THACO Bus Factory in THACO Chu Lai Industrial Park - the largest bus manufacturing center in Southeast Asia. The factory is equipped with a modern, automated production line system, operated and managed on an advanced digital technology platform (MES production execution system and ERP integrated management system).

Vehicle lines are developed according to the value chain, from research, design, technical simulation, testing to production and quality control, with a localization rate of over 70%.

Before Thailand, THACO AUTO had exported buses to the Philippines, Singapore and many other countries. However, this is the first time the Group has launched the Mercedes-Benz RS 1936 luxury bus line, marking a new step forward, affirming the Group's comprehensive product development capacity.

Thailand is a country with a strong automotive industry, with strict requirements on technology, brand and operational efficiency. Conquering this market not only affirms product quality but also opens up opportunities to expand the distribution system, after-sales service and deeper international cooperation of the Group in the Southeast Asia region.
