World - Russian Izdeliye 305 missile

The Izdeliye 305 missile was developed by the Kolomna Mechanical Design Bureau and is intended for use on upgraded Mi-28NM and Ka-52M attack helicopters. It can also be launched from the Mi-8MNP-2 special forces helicopter.

The missile is equipped with a GLONASS-assisted inertial navigation system, an optical thermal imaging guidance device and a two-way secure data link. It is also equipped with a 25 kg high explosive warhead. The maximum range of the missile is about 15 km.

The Izdeliye 305 missile can be used in two different modes. In the first mode, the target is marked by the operator before launch and the combat helicopter can turn away immediately after launching the missile.

In the second mode, the missile is launched without locking onto a target. It first flies towards the target, using inertial guidance with satellite positioning for correction. Images from the seeker are transmitted back to the helicopter via a data link system, called AS-BPLA. The operator can select and change targets while the missile is flying towards its area.

Since the start of the special operation in Ukraine, Russian attack helicopters have used Izdeliye 305 missiles in attacks on Kiev forces with great success.
