It is known that the gas exploitation tower on this rig is being held by Russia, and it is being used as a radar, integrating a drone signal repeater and installing general surveillance location tracking devices. Photo: @Romanov_92.

To attack this target, Ukraine used an unmanned surface vessel (USV), equipped with a first-person view (FPV) drone and even a machine gun. Photo: @Romanov_92.

Russian sources also confirmed the attack. Russian Telegram channel Romanov_92 wrote and posted a video on June 7 as follows: “Ukraine used an unmanned surface vessel (USV) equipped with a large-caliber machine gun, along with four first-person view (FPV) drones, the launching principle is similar to the one used ‘on trucks’ in the attack in early June.” Photo: @Romanov_92.

Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov said that Ukraine's suicide unmanned surface vessel (USV) campaign in the Black Sea has proven that a country with almost no traditional navy left, but now has a series of unmanned surface vessels (USV) that can deter one of the world's largest navies like Russia. Over the past three years, Ukrainian USVs have attacked Russian ports, ships, and the Kerch Bridge, forcing the Russian Black Sea Fleet (BSF) to avoid operating in the open waters of the northern Black Sea and limit operations in other areas. Photo: @The War Zone.

Initially, this form of operation began with unmanned surface vessels (USVs) loaded with explosives and flying one-way missions to attack Russian targets. Since then, Ukraine has made a series of advances, converting its USVs into reusable air defense launchers, first-person view (FPV) drone launchers, and even naval gunships. In early May, the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence Agency (GUR) used a new Magura V7 USV, armed with a pair of AIM-9 Sidewinder infrared-guided air-to-air missiles, to shoot down a pair of Russian Su-30 Flanker fighters flying over the Black Sea. The Su-30 shootdown came after GUR claimed to have shot down a Russian Mi-8 Hip helicopter over the Black Sea in December 2024, using an improved R-73 (AA-11 Archer) air-to-air missile fired from a Magura V5 USV, an earlier variant of the Magura V7.
