When put into operation, this interconnected expressway will not only shorten travel time between localities, but also reduce pressure on National Highway 1A.

Accelerate construction during peak 90 days and nights

The construction site to expand the La Son - Hoa Lien expressway from 2 lanes to 4 lanes is entering the peak phase of 90 days and nights of continuous construction as launched by the Ministry of Construction . The Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board - the investor is closely coordinating with contractors to mobilize maximum human resources, machinery and equipment for construction.

Mr. Nguyen Vu Quy, Director of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, said that 15 bored pile construction sites have been simultaneously deployed on the entire route at 15 bridges; 6 girder casting yards have also been urgently completed to be ready for mass production in July 2025.

Regarding the road, 8 construction teams are implementing the excavation and expansion of the foundation. Hundreds of technical staff, engineers and workers are mobilized, working 3 shifts continuously day and night with the goal of not only ensuring progress, but also focusing on the quality of the project, labor safety and environmental sanitation.

Cam Lo - La Son Expressway is synchronously expanded to 4 lanes, meeting traffic volume.

According to the investor's request, contractors must not let the construction process affect the daily life of people on both sides of the route. Temporary traffic safety measures, dust and noise reduction, construction waste management, etc. are implemented synchronously to minimize impacts on the environment and the community.

Towards full line synchronization

In parallel with the expansion of the La Son - Hoa Lien section, the Ministry of Construction has recently approved the investment policy for the project to expand the Cam Lo - La Son expressway, the section connecting Quang Tri and Hue City, from 2 lanes to 4 lanes. The project has a total investment of more than 6,400 billion VND, with a total length of nearly 99km, of which about 36km passes through Quang Tri and nearly 63km passes through Hue City.

The Cam Lo - La Son Expressway has been synchronously expanded to 4 lanes, meeting the current high traffic volume. The section passing through Hue City retains the 4 existing intersections and adds 2 new intersections at Km 65+300 (Provincial Road 16) and Km 72+370 (Provincial Road 12B), helping to flexibly connect the expressway and the local road system.

The starting point of the route is at Km 0+00 intersecting with National Highway 9 (in Hieu Giang commune, Quang Tri) and the end point is at Km 102+200, connecting to La Son expressway (Loc Son commune, now Hung Loc commune, Hue city) - Hoa Lien (Da Nang city). When completed, the two projects will become a continuous, modern expressway axis from Cam Lo to Da Nang.

With the large scale of expansion and construction volume of roadbeds and bridges, the need for fill materials is an urgent issue of concern to investors and localities where the road passes through.

Regarding this issue, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, Mr. Phan Quy Phuong, directed the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over reviewing and adding areas with potential for landfill materials in Phong Dien Town (old) and Phu Loc District (old) to the mineral exploitation rights auction plan.

“The goal is to proactively exploit and effectively manage the source of land for filling up key projects, contributing to maintaining progress and saving costs for contractors. This is also the foundation for the sustainable infrastructure development orientation of Hue City in the coming time,” Mr. Phan Quy Phuong emphasized.

The proposed areas for inclusion in the planning are conveniently located, close to main traffic routes, do not negatively impact the environment and reduce transportation costs. The Department of Agriculture and Environment is coordinating with relevant departments and offices to complete the dossier and submit it to the Hue City People's Committee for consideration and approval.

The investment in expanding the La Son - Hoa Lien and Cam Lo - La Son expressways is of great significance in completing the eastern North - South traffic axis; gradually realizing the national expressway network planning. When put into operation, this interconnected expressway will not only shorten travel time between localities in the Central region, but also reduce pressure on National Highway 1A, contributing to limiting traffic accidents, promoting socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the region.

The La Son - Hoa Lien Expressway expansion project has a total length of 66km, with an investment of more than 3,000 billion VND, helping to connect Hue City and Da Nang City, connecting Cam Lo - La Son Expressway. After completing the project, together with the Cam Lo - La Son route, a modern and synchronous national expressway network will be formed.
