17-year-old rookie about to debut for MU

Diego Leon is preparing to join MU.

Leon agreed a €4m move to Old Trafford in January, but only joined the club this summer after making 33 appearances for Cerro Porteno in the Paraguayan league. Leon will sign and make his United debut before the squad gather for pre-season training in the middle of this month.

In an interview on July 1, Leon shared: "The feeling is indescribable. I'm really happy to be at MU. I think every player dreams of this, and I got the chance."

The 17-year-old admits he will have to quickly adapt to the climate, language and pressure of competing in the world's toughest tournament. "I have a lot of confidence in myself. I will try to integrate into the team," Leon added.

Although he cannot compete for a starting position at MU immediately, Leon is still a promising contract. This left-back has a fast and fierce playing style, MU is saving for the future. Currently, MU's left-back position still has Luke Shaw, Patrick Dorgu and Diogo Dalot.

Tyrell Malacia, the left-back who has just returned from Feyenoord after his loan spell has expired, is being put up for sale by Manchester United. However, up to now, there has been no concrete offer for the Dutch player.

MU will start training for the pre-season next week. The "Red Devils" will have 5 friendly matches against Leeds United, West Ham, Bournemouth, Everton and Fiorentina from July 19 to August 9, before the big match against Arsenal in the first round of the 2025/26 Premier League on August 17.
