On July 2, NEOM SC announced the signing of Alexandre Lacazette on a free transfer from Lyon. The former French star is the most famous name to join the Saudi Arabian team. Although newly promoted to the Saudi Pro League, NEOM SC is attracting attention in the transfer market with high-profile deals, with the ambition to become a global football power.

Backed by PIF, Saudi Arabia's $1 trillion investment fund, NEOM SC is not only a newly promoted team but also a symbol of the Saudi Vision 2030 project, which aims to diversify the economy and elevate the country's status through sports.
NEOM SC's goal is to reach the FIFA Club World Cup within 5 years, an ambition that is not unrealistic when looking at the success of Al-Hilal, who just defeated Manchester City 4-3 in the 1/8 round of the 2025 Club World Cup.
The Times commented: “NEOM SC are sweeping the European transfer market and aiming to challenge the giants such as Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr”.
NEOM Stadium, scheduled for completion in 2033 with a capacity of 46,000 and a unique design suspended at a height of 350 meters, will be a symbol of this ambition.
