Regarding the case of a 16-year-old girl being tortured, on September 10, according to a source from Thanh Nien reporter, the Investigation Police Agency of Tran Van Thoi District Police ( Ca Mau ) issued a decision to temporarily detain Le Thi Kieu (43 years old, residing in Hamlet 4, Song Doc Town, Tran Van Thoi District) to investigate the act of torturing others.

According to the initial investigation, Ms. NTT (living in the same locality) owed someone else more than 40 million VND and Kieu stood up to take the debt on behalf of Ms. T. Around mid-May 2022, Kieu told Ms. T. to let Ms. T.'s granddaughter, NTBV (16 years old, not an employee as initially reported) work for Kieu to pay off the debt.

During his time working as a hired worker, V. did something wrong that was not to Kieu's liking. Whenever V. did something wrong, Kieu used his hands, a bamboo stick, and a spatula (used to scoop food) to beat him many times.

The scratches on V.'s neck are believed to have been caused by Kieu's abuse.

According to the same source, every day, V. works for a local seafood company, and before or after that time, he does housework for Kieu.

Responding to Thanh Nien reporter's question about the victim's accusations that Ms. Kieu appeared on social media, such as: forcing V. to eat raw fish, hooking a fish hook into her private parts, the source said that the Investigation Police Agency has not yet proven these things.

Because V. returned to his biological mother's house in Hau Giang , immediately after receiving the information, Tran Van Thoi District Police contacted V.'s family to bring V. to serve the investigation. V.'s 9-year-old brother, who followed Mrs. Kieu's husband's fishing boat to sea, was also called by the Investigation Police Agency to be brought ashore on the afternoon of September 9.

It is known that V., his grandmother, younger brother and biological mother are currently being provided with accommodation by Tran Van Thoi District Police while the case is being investigated.

As Thanh Nien reported, on the afternoon of September 8, Song Doc Town Police received a report from a neighbor, Ms. HTH (53 years old, living in Song Doc) about V.'s body having many injuries. When questioned, V. said that Ms. Kieu caused it. Immediately after receiving the information, Song Doc Town Police conducted verification and coordinated with the Investigation Police Agency of Tran Van Thoi District Police to invite Ms. Kieu and V.'s grandmother to the police agency to clarify the incident. Through working with the Investigation Police Agency, Ms. Kieu admitted to beating V.

Previously, social media had many clips showing V. telling the story of how she was repeatedly tortured by Mrs. Kieu by being beaten, punched, and kicked. Explaining the reason for the beating, V. said she had to rent a house at Mrs. Kieu's house to pay off her grandmother's debt. Fearing further torture, V. ran away and sought help to return to her biological mother's house in Hau Giang.
