Slow living in the middle of the coastal city

When you come to Nha Trang, don’t just skim the surface of the coastal city, overwhelmed by the bright lights of the high-rise hotels along Tran Phu and Pham Van Dong streets. After hours of immersing yourself in the blue sea, having fun at VinWonders, and paragliding, take some time to wander the streets or visit the countryside on the outskirts of Nha Trang to feel the gentle pace of life in the coastal city. There is still a very different Nha Trang waiting for you to discover.

Peaceful countryside

One pristine morning, after a cup of coffee and a light breakfast at the hotel, rent a motorbike, follow 23/10 Street and then turn onto Luong Dinh Cua Street to go to the suburban communes. On the way, don't hesitate to stop by Vinh Ngoc rural market to feel the rusticity of a land, or stop to admire the village communal house with dark brown tiled roofs, and see the curved-roof pagodas hidden under the shade of ancient trees. A little further is Phu Vinh village (Vinh Thanh commune) - where there are hundreds of years old ancient houses that have survived the ups and downs of history. If you have time, you can stop by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hai's house to visit the ancient house, enjoy fruit picked from his garden. And if you like collecting, you should buy some handicrafts as souvenirs.

Crossing the Cai River to Vinh Phuong is like stepping through a door that opens to a peaceful countryside, where time seems to slow down with the fragrant smell of straw during the harvest season. The tiled-roofed houses have faded with time, the brilliant bougainvillea trellis in front of the yard, the tall areca trees welcoming the morning sun - all create a simple yet heart-wrenching scene. If you are good at starting conversations, the old people sitting on the porch, the women selling drinks will be willing to tell you about a peaceful land, the passing seasons of rain and sunshine, and the generations of people who are attached to each other.

If you do not like wandering around, from the city center you can take a taxi straight to the ancient Nha Trang tourist area in Vinh Thai commune - a space that recreates a traditional village right near the city. There are ancient houses that have been restored to their original state, surrounded by a lush green vegetable garden on the outskirts, a lotus pond leisurely blooming in the golden summer sun. And you will encounter a world of memories with an old sewing machine, beautiful ancient wooden tables and chairs inlaid with mother-of-pearl, a silent stone mortar, a rough, rustic Lu Cam ceramic vase cleverly arranged and feel like returning to an innocent childhood with folk games such as: playing o an quan, jumping on bamboo poles... Traditional occupations such as: weaving mats, molding to he, making incense, sewing, making pottery,... are also being recreated in ancient Nha Trang. And when you come here, don't forget to enjoy the delicious dishes, a lunch with braised fish, stir-fried water spinach, mixed soup served like a simple family meal or a plate of lotus root salad, banh xeo is the choice for those who like to experience culinary culture. Each dish is seasoned with memories and emotions, simple but genuine, eat once and remember forever.

Quietly love the city

Not only in the countryside, but also in the heart of the coastal city, you can still find your own quiet moments. Those are the streets: To Hien Thanh, Dong Da, Bach Dang, Ngo Thoi Nhiem, Hong Bang, Nguyen Trung Truc..., which Nha Trang people jokingly call "Korean town". You should wake up early, stop by An cafe, order a cup of black coffee with ice, and let your soul wander in the quiet space. Or sit at CCCP Coffee, choose a table near the sidewalk, sip a cup of iced milk coffee, watch the people passing by and you will see the colorful rhythm of life.

Walking leisurely along the streets, you should take check-in photos in front of houses with colorful bougainvillea trellises, small shops selling souvenirs or elegantly and beautifully designed cafes. In this neighborhood, there are many bakeries, pho shops, and restaurants located interspersed for you to freely explore the richness of Nha Trang cuisine. Many famous Vietnamese restaurants are located around here such as: Ot Hiem, Ba Toi, Man... These restaurants not only have reasonable prices but also conquer diners with their richly flavored dishes, meticulously decorated space and friendly service style. In addition to domestic guests, many Korean guests come here to eat pure Vietnamese food like a local - an authentic and very sophisticated experience. There are sometimes more Korean guests than Vietnamese guests, so it is not surprising that many restaurants have Korean menus. The restaurant staff quickly updated greetings and farewells in Korean to create friendliness with customers.

In this peaceful neighborhood, there are also many restaurants selling Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai dishes. And there are also many famous restaurants specializing in European and American dishes such as: An Lam, Johnny Steak House, Livin... When the sun sets, you can come here to order a plate of grilled beef (beefsteak) with a glass of warm wine for dinner. If you like simplicity, you can turn into a small alley on Hung Vuong, Nguyen Thien Thuat streets, sit in a cool beer garden, chat with locals, tourists, and expats (foreigners living in Nha Trang). A vibrant, fascinating culinary world for those who like to live slowly and feel deeply.

Nha Trang is not just a destination. It is a place where you can stop, slow down and let your soul rest. Each cup of coffee slowly in the heart of the city, each lunch in the countryside, meals with rich Vietnamese flavors... are like a reminder to "Slow down, experience more deeply".
