Specifically, after a long time focusing on fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of medical staff quitting their jobs in 2022 increased by 177% compared to 2019 (before the Covid-19 pandemic) with a total of 1,523 employees quitting their jobs.
However, from the beginning of 2023 to August 10, the number of public health workers who resigned was 547. Of these, 202 were doctors, 239 were nurses, midwives, medical technicians, etc., a sharp decrease compared to the previous year.
This is the result of the health sector's preferential policies, gradually upgrading working conditions and facilities, increasing income; promptly rewarding and encouraging those with good achievements and creating conditions for learning and improving qualifications for health workers.
In addition, since the beginning of 2023, Ho Chi Minh City has applied a policy of increasing the additional income for civil servants by 1.8 times. From July 2023, the Government decided to increase the basic salary, thereby increasing the income of workers, making workers in the health sector more secure in their work.
In particular, after successfully piloting the program of sending newly graduated young doctors to practice at the District General Hospital associated with the health station for 18 months, to issue practice certificates, young doctors have had the opportunity to gain experience and improve their skills, thereby having greater job opportunities.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, as of August 10, 2023, the total number of medical staff working at public medical facilities in the city was 43,494 people, an increase of 2,070 people compared to December 31, 2022.
