Recently, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City announced and presented the decision of the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to appoint 14 Department Directors, Heads of sectors; and 137 deputies.

In which, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Khanh Phong Lan was appointed to the position of Director of the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City, comrade Le Minh Hai is Deputy Director of the Department of Food Safety. Thus, compared to before the merger of Ho Chi Minh City, the leadership of the Department of Food Safety has not changed.

Speaking to SGGP Newspaper, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Khanh Phong Lan said that, basically, the merger of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety is different from other departments because Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau do not have equivalent agencies. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety will receive medical and agricultural personnel related to the field of food safety, arrange work, and not interrupt work.

Currently, in addition to perfecting the organizational structure, the Department of Food Safety will organize food safety inspections and controls at the beginning of the school year for the entire Ho Chi Minh City at the end of July. At the same time, ensure food safety for workers in export processing zones, industrial parks as well as services and tourism in the new area.

The Department of Food Safety is a specialized agency under the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, with the function of advising and assisting the People 's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City in state management of food safety, inspection, examination, handling of administrative violations of food safety, and the issuance of quarantine certificates for animal products leaving the area of ​​Ho Chi Minh City.

Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Khanh Phong Lan was appointed as Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety from December 2023 to present. Previously, he was Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Management Board.

Comrade Pham Khanh Phong Lan has the qualifications of Associate Professor, Doctor of Pharmacy, Senior Political Theory, and is a National Assembly Delegate of the 13th, 14th, and 15th terms.
