On August 21, the City Children's Hospital (HCMC) announced that it had just received emergency treatment for two children, QG (13 years old) and BL (5 years old, both living in Tay Ninh ) in a state of severe burns all over their bodies.

Initial information, on the morning of August 17, a fire broke out in the rented room where the two children and their mother were living. The fire caused serious injuries to the whole family. The cause, suspected to be the father (divorced) poured gasoline on the victims and set them on fire.

Immediately afterwards, the two children were transferred to the City Children's Hospital (HCMC) in very serious condition.

City Children's Hospital is making every effort to save two severely burned children.

The 5-year-old boy suffered 2nd-3rd degree burns over about 75% of his body, including his head, face, neck, torso, genitals, arms and legs, along with respiratory burns and sepsis.

Currently, the patient is in hypovolemic shock, with stiff swelling all over his body, dark fingertips and toes, weak pulse, and requires mechanical ventilation and continuous anti-shock fluid replacement.

Meanwhile, the 13-year-old girl suffered 2nd-3rd degree burns over about 50% of her body, with severe swelling, exposed conjunctiva, and signs of burn infection. The child was conscious and responsive, but was still at risk of septic shock and coal dust in her airways.

The medical team is currently trying their best and using every method to save the lives of the two children.

The City Children’s Hospital has implemented a one-stop model – receiving and providing comprehensive services for children who are victims of violence, abuse or unwanted pregnancies. They will be screened, treated, counseled and provided with emergency protection services on site. Children will also receive legal advice and be connected with authorities to protect their rights. After treatment, children will be received for care and support at the Social Work Center – Vocational Education for Youth in Ho Chi Minh City.
