Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi has just inspected and worked with the Museum of Cham Sculpture on the implementation of investment in renovation and upgrading, and at the same time oriented tasks to promote the value of this unique heritage that is over 100 years old.
Improving the conservation and promotion of heritage values
According to the report, the Cham Sculpture Museum currently preserves 2,000 artifacts, of which 500 are displayed in 10 spaces. Notably, 12 national treasures are being preserved here, including 11 treasures displayed in 6 spaces, while the Dong Duong Tara Bodhisattva statue - the only bronze artifact in the collection - is only displayed in a copy.
In recent times, the Museum has implemented many solutions to protect national treasures such as increasing security forces, installing camera systems, glass belts, and barriers; building and regularly reviewing fire prevention and fighting plans; closely coordinating with the city and local police to ensure the security and safety of artifacts.

Not only stopping at conservation work, the Museum also focuses on education and communication activities. The unit has researched and developed the project "Heritage education at the Cham Sculpture Museum in the period of 2025 - 2027, orientation to 2030", aiming to develop educational programs suitable for each public group.
At the same time, coordinate with the Tourism Promotion Center to promote the image of the Museum widely at home and abroad, develop digital media publications to spread the value of 12 national treasures.
In the first 7 months of 2025, the Museum welcomed more than 128,500 visitors, an increase of 8% over the same period, of which international visitors accounted for the majority with more than 115,700 visitors.
Speed up the progress of the Museum upgrade project
The Cham Sculpture Museum Renovation and Upgrade Project has a total investment of nearly 11.5 billion VND, starting in May 2025 with the following items: building new fences, gates, landscaping, heat insulation, waterproofing, and renovating the toilet system.
As of August 18, the items had completed about 44.75% of the volume, while the progress time reached 58.3%. Although the construction was still under way and the museum was open to visitors, it coordinated closely with the construction unit to ensure safety and stable operation.

At the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi acknowledged the efforts of the Museum's staff in preserving, displaying and promoting heritage values; at the same time, requested the construction unit to speed up, add more human resources and equipment, organize many parallel construction teams, ensuring the project is completed on schedule in November 2025.
She noted that the construction must strictly comply with technical requirements, ensure the quality of the project and preserve the original elements of the relic.
Towards a first-class museum, a unique cultural destination
Affirming that the Museum of Cham Sculpture is a heritage with special historical, cultural and spiritual values, the Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee requested the Museum to continue focusing on implementing solutions to protect and preserve artifacts; perfecting the plan to display the Bodhisattva Tara Dong Duong statue; promoting the application of digital technology in management, display, ticket sales and communication; researching and implementing an automatic explanation system to improve the visitor experience.
The Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee also suggested that the Museum should survey visitor needs, organize night activities, expand academic connections with international museums and academies, and research and exploit services on campus in accordance with regulations.
Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi listened to a report on the preservation and display of artifacts at the Museum.
In the long term, the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with relevant departments and branches to research and advise on additional investment in necessary items such as: air conditioning systems, solar energy, smart surveillance cameras, construction of showrooms, upgrading parking lots, and comprehensive digital transformation.
“The Museum of Cham Sculpture has a lot of potential and advantages to attract visitors. Therefore, the goal of the project after completion is that the Museum must achieve quality infrastructure, meet the requirements of technology and service quality, to be worthy of being a first-class museum, a special destination of Da Nang in particular and of Vietnam in general”, Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized.
