On August 22, Binh Tay Market (HCMC) opened a market to honor Vietnamese goods and sell goods to stabilize the market. On this occasion, many traders launched promotions and deep discounts on consumer goods, while introducing typical souvenir products such as conical hats, water hyacinth handbags, cards printed with images of Vietnamese dishes... to attract visitors.
The above activities are part of a series of solutions to stimulate consumption in Ho Chi Minh City, notably the "Shopping Season" promotion program lasting until September 15 (phase 1) and from November 15 to December 31 (phase 2), allowing businesses to offer deeper discounts than usual. At the same time, the "City Sale" event brings together more than 500 domestic and foreign brands, applying promotions of up to 80% for perfumes, cosmetics, fashion, household appliances, etc. This event takes place at Parc Mall (from August 14 to 24), followed by Ben Thanh Metro Station, Diamond Plaza, SC VivoCity and Mega Mall Thao Dien (from August 28 to September 7). In particular, for the first time, the underground shopping space at Ben Thanh Station is exploited, while connecting the chain of activities with Vincom Mega Mall Thao Dien, creating a new commercial and transportation experience. Not only offering price discounts, “City Sale” also encourages cashless payments. Customers using HDBank and Vikki Bank cards will receive a 10%-20% refund or receive gifts; QR payments via VNPay and ZaloPay will receive an additional 5%-10% discount. Major supermarket chains such as GO!, MM Mega Market, Saigon Co.op, etc. also participate in the discounts.
Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, said that the department also coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation to bring mobile goods to industrial parks, export processing zones, and residential areas far from the center to both support social security and contribute to price stabilization. At the same time, the department directed the market management force to strengthen inspection and handling of counterfeit, fake, and poor-quality goods to ensure a transparent business environment.
On the same day, the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association to hold a press conference to introduce the first Rice Flour Festival, which will take place at 23-9 Park (Ben Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), from October 16 to 19, 2025.
