On August 29, Lieutenant Colonel Hua Van Cat, Chief of Police of Yen Binh Commune ( Lang Son Province) confirmed that a sinkhole appeared in the yard of Ms. Luu Thi Xuan's house in Bong village and has now expanded after 2 days.
Currently, the hole is more than 1 meter wide. People have used a 7 meter long pole to probe but still have not reached the bottom.
Upon receiving the news, the authorities cordoned off the dangerous area and evacuated Ms. Xuan's family to a safe place (about 40m from the house).
The incident did not cause any human casualties, but Ms. Xuan's family is in difficult circumstances and needs support from the authorities and villagers to stabilize temporary housing.

The initial cause of the sinkhole was determined to be the heavy rain that lasted from August 21, causing flooding and landslides in many places in the commune. Up to now, the Trung River in the area is still rising, but some flooded areas have receded.
Local authorities coordinate with relevant agencies to continue monitoring the scene to prevent further subsidence and ensure safety for residential areas.
