This is not simply a performance but an emotional fusion between thousand-year-old traditional puppetry and contemporary fashion , between folk theater language and new design thinking. All together telling a story about Vietnamese culture, in a close and creative form.

Regarding the idea of implementing the program, Vu Thi Bich Hong, Head of the Organizing Committee shared: “When standing in front of the water stage of the Vietnam Puppetry Theatre, we wished for a dialogue between fashion and heritage. “Sac Viet 2025” was formed from that. We were fortunate to receive the companionship and enthusiastic support from the artists of the Vietnam Puppetry Theatre to realize the idea”.
According to Vu Thi Bich Hong, “Sac Viet” is not only a combination of puppetry and fashion, but also an invitation to return to national identity with a more youthful and modern perspective. Through the program, the audience, especially young people, feel proud and love Vietnamese culture.
The first impressive performance was the “Dragon Dance” on the traditional puppet stage. Under the talented hands of the puppeteers, the dragon seemed to come to life, sometimes majestic and majestic amidst the pounding of festival drums, sometimes gently flying in the misty smoke, carrying the wish for peace , prosperity and the longevity of Vietnamese identity.

The special highlight of the program is the collection called “Water Puppet” by designer Pham Tran Thu Hang. Inspired by the soul of the water pavilion stage, the designer “breathed” the art of water puppetry into every shape and material, transforming traditional costumes such as the yếm dress and the crow’s beak scarf into something unique and contemporary. The designs are as soft as the puppets themselves, evoking the image of a Northern countryside village resplendent in festival colors.

On the unique catwalk located right on the traditional puppet stage, every step of the child models is a movement between the past and the present. The water pavilion stage becomes a “performance within a performance” – where fashion, culture and puppetry converge in a wordless but enchanting harmony.
Not only stopping at the dragon dance and fashion show, the program also brought many special puppet shows combining land puppetry and water puppetry “Echoes of the Countryside”. The shows recreated the atmosphere of village festivals, folk games, daily activities and spiritual beliefs of Northern farmers, creating a bustling and warm performance space.

The program is also a memorable mark for the child models - who convey cultural messages with their childlike demeanor and eyes. Participating in the show, little Phuong Loan shared: "I feel very happy and proud to stand on such a special stage to introduce Vietnamese culture to more people. I feel like I am telling a story through my clothes. Each outfit I wear carries the beauty of Vietnam, so I find it very meaningful."
“Sac Viet 2025” is a living testament to the spirit of preserving and renewing heritage. The program not only honors traditional puppetry, but also inspires the younger generation with pride in national culture. That is the way to keep old values from fading into the background, but to continue to shine and fly far in contemporary life.
