EWC is an annual event held in Saudi Arabia. It is considered the largest e-sports tournament in the world , both in terms of the number of competitions and the value of the prizes. This year, the total amount of money the organizers have offered to award prizes is up to 70 million USD for dozens of competitions. In addition, the Esports World Cup also spends a large amount of money to invite guest teams to attend.

This year, the tournament system added chess and categories. “Chess King” Magnus Carlsen will also participate in this event, with a prize worth millions of dollars. However, bringing a traditional sport into the eSports category has also caused controversy.

EWC was originally a Gamers Without Borders tournament organized by the Saudi Arabian E-Sports Federation. It has now expanded and is held permanently in the city of Riyadh, which is also where Ronaldo's Al Nassr club is based.
