Real Madrid have just stopped in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals after a heavy 0-4 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). After this tournament, the Spanish Royal team will have a 41-day break before entering the opening match of La Liga against Osasuna on August 19.

Speaking to the AP news agency, La Liga President Javier Tebas said the decision not to postpone the match was made by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and that La Liga organizers were in full agreement with that decision. According to him, the players will have enough time to rest and prepare.
“They will have 20 days off instead of 21. No other league like the Premier League (Chelsea) or Ligue 1 (PSG) has changed the calendar for the same reason. So I don’t think we need to change the calendar just for one day. That’s not reasonable,” said the head of La Liga.
Real Madrid had a long season with 68 official matches, including 38 matches in La Liga, 14 matches in the Champions League, 6 matches in the Spanish King's Cup and 6 matches in the FIFA Club World Cup, 2 matches in the Spanish Super Cup, along with 1 match in the European Super Cup and 1 match in the Intercontinental Cup.
Meanwhile, PSG will play their 65th match in the FIFA Club World Cup final on July 13, Chelsea have 64. PSG's new season will start between August 15 and 17 with a match against Nantes, while Chelsea will face Crystal Palace on August 17.

Speaking after the defeat to PSG, Courtois expressed his disappointment: "La Liga is always like that. I have never seen a league president in Italy, England or even the NBA (American professional basketball), NFL (American football) speak that way.
If Mr Tebas doesn't like the FIFA Club World Cup, that's fine, but it's part of the official FIFA calendar. We're here to compete, and he seems to want to be the centre of attention. I've never seen a president speak like that. The health of the players is at stake."
