On June 24, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum (66 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Ba Dinh, Hanoi ) organized the launch of the Applied Arts and Folk Arts Exhibition Space.
The event was held on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts (June 24, 1966 - June 24, 2025).
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum Nguyen Anh Minh emphasized that applied arts and folk arts are an indispensable part of the historical development of Vietnamese fine arts. Applied arts and folk arts include various types of paintings, folk statues, and household items... reflecting the spiritual life, sophisticated professional skills, creativity, national identity, and aesthetic values of Vietnamese culture.
The exhibition space for applied art and folk art was previously displayed on the 2nd and 3rd floors of building B of the Museum.
After many years of serving the public, the equipment has deteriorated, lost its aesthetic value and no longer meets the needs of visitors. Therefore, in 2022, with the approval of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum implemented the Project to Organize the Exhibition of the Collection of Applied Fine Arts and Folk Fine Arts. After 2 years of implementation, the project has now been completed.
According to Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum Nguyen Anh Minh, digital technology is developing strongly, digitizing artifacts, applying digital technology to display to renew the way of introducing collections, and innovating displays is the need of many museums in Vietnam today, including the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum. For the two collections of applied art and folk art that are unique and rich in traditional values of the nation, in addition to the display method that highlights the aesthetic value of each artifact, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum chooses to use digital technology to increase the multi-sensory experience for visitors.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Minh said that due to the limited exhibition space, the Museum and its partners have researched, explored and used technology as a solution to optimize space and overcome limitations in exhibition space. At the same time, the Museum has developed a search software to provide information and images of undisplayed artifacts, helping viewers to learn more about the Museum's collection of applied art and folk art. At the same time, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum has also developed a plan to periodically rotate and change artifacts, contributing to diversifying and enriching this exhibition space.

The Applied Arts and Folk Arts Exhibition Space is one of the important contents of the exhibition system of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, contributing to clearly reflecting the development history of Vietnamese fine arts from traditional to modern.
Here, a number of typical applied art objects of some ethnic groups and some types of folk paintings and statues are selected to show the beauty of aesthetic thinking, reflecting the spiritual life, sophisticated professional skills, creativity, national cultural identity and aesthetic values of Vietnamese culture. These two exhibitions always attract a large number of domestic and foreign tourists to visit, research, learn and enjoy.
With the desire to enhance the experience and meet the increasing demand of the public, recently, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum has implemented the renovation of the Applied Fine Arts and Folk Art Exhibition Space. The professional display system with glass cabinets, shelves, colors and lights highlights the aesthetic elements of each artifact, along with the application of 3D mapping projection technology, interactive screens to look up information about artifacts... creating a unique feature of this exhibition space.
The Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts hopes that the Applied Arts and Folk Arts Exhibition Space will become a unique and interesting new place for visiting, learning and experiencing for art lovers at home and abroad./.
