Attractive benefits for candidates admitted to military schools

Entry requirements such as personal history, health, or even entrance scores and admission criteria are quite high, however, candidates admitted to the military system of military schools will enjoy many benefits.

Colonel, Dr. Nguyen Van Thai, Head of the Examination and Training Quality Assurance Department, Department of Military Training - General Staff, said that the preliminary military recruitment work in 2025 recorded positive signals. Accordingly, the total number of qualified applications for admission to 20 military academies and schools reached 33,205, an increase of nearly 42% compared to 2024.

Schools with a high number of outstanding applications include: Political Officer School with more than 6,700 applications, Military Technical Academy with nearly 5,000 applications, Border Guard Academy with more than 3,500 applications and Military Medical Academy with more than 3,200 applications.

This year, Military schools apply 3 flexible admission methods. Specifically: Method 1 conducts direct admission, giving priority to admission according to the university admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and regulations of the Ministry of National Defense .

Method 2 is based on the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City National University in 2025 and method 3 is based on the results of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam.

The Military Admissions Board of the Ministry of National Defense also said that candidates will be allowed to register for all admission methods. This is considered to help maximize the chances of being admitted to military schools.

In response to questions regarding the benefits for candidates admitted to the military system of military schools, a representative of the Military Admissions Board of the Ministry of National Defense said that, in addition to studying, living, and training in a highly disciplined military cultural environment, successful candidates will also be provided with food, accommodation, and clothing by the Army; they do not have to pay money or tuition; every month all students receive a living allowance (similar to a scholarship for civilian students).

In addition, successful candidates will also be able to use the school's facilities for free for studying, training, and scientific research; and will be provided with free equipment and supplies for studying.

"Relatives of students (biological parents, legal adoptive parents, wife, children...) who do not have health insurance will be purchased by the Army immediately upon entering the school; in case the student's family has sudden difficulties, the Army will consider providing subsidies; in case the student has biological or adopted children, they will enjoy tuition exemption and reduction policies according to regulations", said a representative of the Military Admissions Department of the Ministry of National Defense.

More notably, graduates are awarded the rank of officer (for university level training) and professional soldier (for college level training) by the Ministry of National Defense and are assigned to units to hold positions and receive salaries according to regulations (i.e., jobs after graduation). Excellent and good graduates are given priority when their wishes are considered when assigned to units.
