On the afternoon of June 11, Mr. Pham Van Tran Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ayun Ha Commune (Phu Thien District, Gia Lai Province), said that National Highway 25 through Doan Ket Village had been reopened to traffic after more than 7 hours of being cut off due to heavy rain causing deep flooding.

Even before the water receded, the construction unit transported rocks and was ready to wait for the water to recede to fix the problem.

Earlier, at around 4 a.m. the same day, heavy rain caused the stream water to rise, flooding the temporary bridge next to the Plei Lok bridge under repair. The strong current disrupted traffic, cutting off the vital route connecting Pleiku City with Krong Pa District, Ayun Pa Town and Phu Thien.

Immediately after the incident, the People's Committee of Ayun Ha commune mobilized police, militia and local organizations to be on duty, put up warning lines and direct traffic. A temporary walkway on the main bridge under construction was also opened for pedestrians and motorbikes to pass, while cars had to stop and wait.

Relevant departments and agencies, together with the construction unit, urgently coordinated to fix the problem. While the water was still flooding, the construction unit brought trucks carrying rocks to the scene. When the water receded, the technical team used bulldozers to level the landslide area, then used rollers to compact the roadbed, ensuring the temporary bridge was stable.

Now open to traffic

“Thanks to the preparedness of human resources, vehicles and materials, the road was reopened to traffic by 11:15 a.m.,” said Mr. Hung. The People’s Committee of Ayun Ha commune has also developed a contingency plan to proactively respond in case the weather continues to develop complicatedly.
