Heartbreaking scene of rowing boat through flood to bury relatives in Quang Binh

On October 30, the leader of the People's Committee of Kien Giang town (Le Thuy district, Quang Binh ) said that although the water had receded, the roads were still impassable, so the local rescue team used canoes, along with neighbors and relatives, to cross the flood to bring the deceased to the funeral.

Floodwaters submerged all roads, and families of those who died in the flood had to row boats to take the bodies for burial.

The funeral procession had to be rowed 5 kilometers. "Although it was quite difficult, we also told everyone to do their best to care for the deceased," the leader added.

It is known that Kien Giang town has 3 cases of death in floods, including the case of Ms. Do Thi D. who had a stroke and fell into flood water.

Previously, some families in An Thuy, Loc Thuy, Xuan Thuy communes (Le Thuy district) were in a situation where relatives passed away but could not organize a funeral.

In Tuy Loc village, Loc Thuy commune, relatives had to bring the coffin of Mrs. Duong Thi He (who recently passed away at the age of 74) to the attic to avoid flood water, waiting for the water to recede before they could send her to her final resting place.

At Xuan Giang residential group, Kien Giang town, Le Thuy district, Quang Binh, the family of Ms. Dang Thi K. (31 years old) also had to ask the neighbors to help install scaffolding and lift the coffin of her relative up high.

Up to now, Quang Binh province still has 2 missing people who have not been found. This locality recorded 32,900 houses submerged in water, of which the "flood center" of Le Thuy district has nearly 20,000 houses; 43 villages and hamlets are isolated.

76 roads were flooded, of which National Highway 1 had 5 flooded spots, the deepest being 60cm. Ho Chi Minh Road through Truong Thuy commune, Le Thuy district was flooded for 800m, the deepest being 80cm.
