The Deputy Prime Minister asked the members of the working group to continue to perform well the assigned tasks; continue diplomatic measures through different channels to influence US agencies to have solutions suitable to Vietnam's conditions and circumstances and the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Regarding taxes, the Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Finance to continue reviewing and finalizing plans to reduce import taxes. Regarding non-tariff issues, ministries and branches will review legal regulations and consider removing any unreasonable content, including for Vietnamese enterprises, or propose to competent authorities to remove it.

Regarding the origin of goods, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to review and strictly control the origin of goods, to prevent any unfortunate incidents from happening. The Ministry of Finance should increase the exchange of customs information with the US on trade defense measures and tax evasion.

Regarding copyright and intellectual property issues, the Ministry of Science and Technology was asked to review legal regulations and address US concerns.

The Ministry of Finance coordinates with ministries and branches to build a bilateral agreement with the US towards upgrading the Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA), including adding content on tax and intellectual property.

Regarding business support, the Ministry of Finance has developed a comprehensive plan to support businesses. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has increased the promotion and dissemination of the contents of 17 free trade agreements, further promoted trade to new markets and supported businesses in adapting to new markets, and promptly informed businesses about policies of export markets.

Previously, at a meeting with ministries and sectors on the evening of April 7, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said he had asked the US to postpone imposing tariffs on Vietnam for at least 45 days to negotiate, prepare and transition status.

Regarding taxes, the head of the Government affirmed that he will follow the high-level agreement between General Secretary To Lam and US President Donald Trump.

Regarding trade solutions, continue to buy more US products that are strong and in demand in Vietnam, including products related to security and defense; promote early delivery of aircraft commercial contracts.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, about 50 countries have so far requested to negotiate with the US. However, Vietnam is one of the countries that responded the earliest and was the first to have direct exchanges between the highest-ranking leaders, laying an important foundation for the bilateral negotiation process.
