Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son receives CEO of Perenco Group

(Chinhphu.vn) - During the working visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the French Republic, on the afternoon of June 10 local time, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son received CEO of Perenco Group Armel Simondin. As a joint venture between the UK and France, Perenco Group has oil and gas exploitation cooperation activities with many international partners, including Vietnam.

At the reception, Perenco Group CEO Armel Simondin congratulated Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on his working trip to France, which had achieved important results, thereby contributing to promoting the Vietnam-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to develop substantially and in depth. Assessing cooperation in the energy and oil and gas sector as one of the new pillars in the bilateral relationship, Mr. Armel Simondin thanked the Vietnamese Government for creating favorable conditions for foreign enterprises, including Perenco Group, to invest and develop long-term in Vietnam.

Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that the Vietnamese Government encourages partners, including Perenco Group, to continue exploiting resources in Vietnam in a sustainable manner.

Recognizing the efforts and contributions of Perenco Group and its partners in cooperation in oil and gas exploration and exploitation in Vietnam, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son affirmed that the Vietnamese Government encourages partners, including Perenco Group, to continue exploiting resources in Vietnam in a sustainable manner, strictly complying with Vietnamese laws and international commitments, thereby promoting sustainable development of the oil and gas industry while ensuring harmony of interests between the State and contractors.

On this occasion, the two sides also discussed Perenco's proposals to expand investment and promote cooperation in the fields of energy and oil and gas. Assessing Perenco as one of the most experienced oil and gas corporations, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son suggested that Perenco continue to closely cooperate with Vietnamese enterprises to implement work items in accordance with commitments to the Vietnamese Government, on the basis of compliance with Vietnamese and international laws, not to affect the progress of investment projects in Vietnam./.
