On the morning of July 2, Traffic Police Team No. 1 and No. 2 (Traffic Police Department of Hanoi Police) conducted a surprise inspection and handled violations of traffic order and safety in the railway coffee street area from Tran Phu to Phung Hung.
At around 7am, about 2 hours before the train arrives, many coffee shops "get ready" to open and clean up to welcome guests.
Groups of foreign tourists then arrived. At first, they were hesitant when they saw the no-entry sign. However, many shops had people come out to the place to invite and lead customers in.
"We just wanted to take pictures, this place is very famous on social media," said Cai Xiaoqun (a Chinese tourist).
Compared to nearly 2 months ago, the number of people coming to the train street cafe has decreased significantly. Every day, the police are on duty here, coordinating with other forces to prevent actions that could lead to unfortunate incidents.
Many shop owners, upon seeing the authorities, immediately packed up their tables and chairs and closed their shops. Dozens of tourists were also invited outside.
Some shops still invite tourists to sit and drink coffee right next to the railway tracks. When they see the police, they immediately ask the customers to leave and close the shop.
When the police explained, many tourists happily left the place.
The street becomes crowded near train time with hordes of foreign tourists.
Visitors are required to stand outside the barrier.
Tourists recorded the train passing from outside the barrier.
The Hanoi Police Traffic Police Department said that ensuring railway safety is a key task, directly related to people's lives.
Local units always maintain patrol forces and actively coordinate with ward police to strictly handle violations.
"Patrol is carried out regularly and continuously, especially during train running times, including in the evening when there are many people and tourists," said a representative of this unit.
The crowd was so large that the police had a hard time making sure everyone followed the rules.
Compared to before, the number of violations inside the railway cafe has decreased significantly, even when the authorities are not present.
The Hanoi Traffic Police Department regularly arranges local forces to be on duty during train running times to ensure safety.
