Quang Nam province currently has more than 136 thousand union members out of a total of more than 140 thousand workers, civil servants and laborers. As soon as Resolution 02 was issued, the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee developed an action program to implement this resolution in the province.

One of the top priorities is for all levels and sectors to continue promoting the role and responsibility of trade unions in representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers, civil servants and employees.

Mr. Phan Xuan Quang - Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation said that, based on the direction of the province, the union focuses on arranging, consolidating, and innovating the organization in a streamlined manner to increase resources for each grassroots union. For example, if previously, for the tax and treasury sector, 18 districts had 18 grassroots unions, now it has been rearranged to only 1 grassroots union (provincial level).

In the coming time, we will continue to streamline some trade unions by sector and industry. In particular, the non-state sector enterprises (with more than 90,000 employees) have now established 357 grassroots trade unions/1,895 enterprises, annually organizing labor conferences and dialogues at the workplace, and signing collective labor agreements in a direction that is more beneficial to employees.

“For example, regarding industrial meals, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor stipulates a minimum of 18,000 VND/meal, but currently, many places have implemented 20-25,000 VND/meal, or other regimes such as vacation, sightseeing, weddings, funerals are specifically regulated.

The average salary of employees in all types of enterprises in the province is currently over 10.8 million VND/person/month. Many enterprises and factories give 13th month salary bonuses to employees" - Mr. Phan Xuan Quang said.

Comrade Le Van Dung - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee assessed that since the implementation of Resolution 02 in the province, there has been a clear change in the awareness, role, functions and tasks of trade unions in the new situation. In particular, the role of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers, civil servants and employees, especially in the business sector, has been greatly enhanced.

Trade unions have contributed to building a harmonious relationship between enterprises and employees, so the situation of work stoppages and strikes in the province has been minimized. However, in addition to the achieved results, trade union activities are also facing difficulties and challenges that need to be promptly identified for solutions.

Comrade Le Van Dung said: “In the coming time, the Provincial Party Committee will attach responsibility to the leaders in implementing Resolution 02 of the Politburo to continue to bring the content of the Resolution into life; focus on building a truly clean and strong trade union organization; pay attention to training and regularly fostering the team of trade union officials and create favorable conditions for trade unions to promote their role as representatives of workers”.
