On the morning of July 2, Foreign Trade University held a ceremony to announce the decision to recognize the President of Foreign Trade University for the 2020-2025 term.
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thu Huong, Vice Principal of the school, officially became the new principal, replacing Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Anh Tuan, who retired from management work according to the regime.

Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thu Huong was born in 1977, is a former student of the 34th course majoring in Foreign Economics at the Foreign Trade University, graduated with a master's degree in economics from Aarhus University (Denmark), and received a doctorate in economics from the Foreign Trade University. Ms. Pham Thu Huong participated in the training program for young leaders for higher education institutions and female leaders in higher education in the Federal Republic of Germany.
Before being appointed as the Rector of Foreign Trade University, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thu Huong held the position of Vice Rector in charge of full-time undergraduate and postgraduate training, international cooperation, business cooperation, innovation and entrepreneurship, student affairs... and was the one who contributed to shaping the fundamental principles of "openness and flexibility" in developing training programs; the systematic approach in building and developing the open innovation and entrepreneurshipeducation ecosystem of the University.

She is also the initiator of the training model associated with career development of learners at Foreign Trade University, including programs to improve learners' capacity through 4 groups "We, The Icebreakers", "We, The Explorers", "We, The Innovators" and "We, The Ambassadors", and thoroughly applying the "campus in campus" model to promote effective exploitation of resources from business cooperation and international cooperation for the development of higher education.
With 30 years of association with Foreign Trade University since she was a student, she has also held key positions at the University such as Head of the Professional Department of the Vietnam - Japan Human Resources Development Institute (VJCC), Head of the Planning - Finance Department, Head of the Training Management Department and participated in coordinating and directing many international projects on higher education. In addition, she also assumed the role of President of the Trade Union of Foreign Trade University for many years.
In his congratulatory speech, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Minh Son, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, affirmed that Foreign Trade University is one of the leading higher education institutions in the country. Not only is it a place to train high-quality human resources, but the school is also a place to spread culture, humanistic values, and liberal education.
The Deputy Minister hopes that Foreign Trade University will be a pioneer in innovation and development of advanced university models, taking university autonomy as a driving force associated with accountability.
"The Ministry of Education and Training has high expectations for the new Principal Pham Thu Huong, who has been associated with and matured at this school," said Mr. Son.
30 years later, in her new position as Principal of Foreign Trade University, Ms. Huong said that she has the aspiration to accompany the teaching staff in implementing the development strategy to make the school one of the leading universities in Asia; a place that respects academic freedom, encourages creative research, develops a training model associated with promoting thinking and the ability to master the context, overcomes prejudices about educational values, nurtures dreams and ambitions, and aims for positive impact and sustainable development.
