Attending the Workshop, on Petrolimex's side, there were Mr. Pham Van Thanh - Chairman of the Board of Directors; Mr. Luu Van Tuyen - Member of the Board of Directors, Deputy General Director; Mr. Tran Tuan Linh - Member of the Board of Directors; Mr. Nguyen Van Su - Deputy General Director; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Duong - Deputy General Director; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tu - Deputy General Director along with representatives of the leaders of the functional departments/offices and officers of the Group, representatives of the leaders of the corporations and member companies of the Group.
On the side of Energy Alliance for the Planet and People (GEAPP), there were Ms. Sunita Dubey - Chief Representative and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Minh - National Coordinating Director, GEAPP Vietnam.
The workshop was attended by Dr. Cindy Tiangco, Regional Operations Director for Developing Countries – Energy Sector, Asian Development Bank (ADB); Dr. Priyank Lathwal – Energy Expert of the World Bank (WB), Mr. Nguyen Dinh Quang, Founder – Deputy Director of Selex Motors Company, Mr. Nguyen Anh Vu, Head of Business Development Department, Huawei Company and representatives of the Department of Climate Change – Ministry of Agriculture and Environment .
The workshop aimed to share and discuss initial proposals in Petrolimex's energy transition plan, including technical and financial assessments of integrated solutions for battery storage systems (BESS), rooftop solar power, electric vehicle charging stations, two-wheeler battery swapping station business models, as well as emission reduction financing mechanisms such as public-private partnerships and blended finance.
Speaking at the workshop, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petrolimex Pham Van Thanh affirmed: “As a pillar enterprise in the country's energy sector, Petrolimex is deeply aware that the Group not only performs the task of ensuring current energy security but also needs to pioneer in the process of shaping Vietnam's green energy future. Petrolimex highly appreciates the practical support from GEAPP and believes that the results of this research will be an important foundation to help the Group shape its strategy, build a pilot model and gradually replicate it throughout the system.”
On GEAPP’s side, Ms. Sunita Dubey – GEAPP’s Chief Representative in Vietnam – acknowledged Petrolimex’s pioneering efforts in transforming itself from a traditional petroleum enterprise to a sustainable energy provider: “Petrolimex is very proactive in the process of finding a suitable energy transition roadmap, not only in theory but also in practice – aiming for a net zero emission target by 2050. We appreciate the spirit of cooperation and are ready to implement the proposals from the research roadmap.”
The workshop is part of a series of cooperation activities between Petrolimex and GEAPP since the two sides signed a Cooperation Letter in August 2024. In addition to the presentation of research results from consulting groups, the event also had a thematic discussion session with the participation of representatives of organizations and enterprises such as ADB, Huawei, Selex Motors... on opportunities and challenges in the energy transition journey in Vietnam.
The workshop is an important step for Petrolimex to realize its vision of becoming Vietnam's leading energy group trading in green, high-quality, environmentally friendly energy products based on 4.0 technology platform, comprehensive digital transformation and contributing to promoting clean energy infrastructure in Vietnam.
