Attending the opening ceremony were Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan - Former Politburo member, Former President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Mr. Pham Dinh Phong - Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage; Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Van Bai - Vice Chairman of the National Cultural Heritage Council; Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Van Liem - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Archaeological Association, Member of the National Cultural Heritage Council; Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga - Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Society, Ho Chi Minh City People's Council; Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City; representatives of the leaders of departments and agencies under the departments and agencies of Ho Chi Minh City, museums, reporters of the central and Ho Chi Minh City press agencies.
At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City announced Decision No. 712/QD/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister recognizing the ceramic pot as a national treasure.
Historically, the ceramic pot of private collector Pham Gia Chi Bao is made of terracotta, dating back about 2,500 - 2,000 years ago (during the Dong Son culture period) and was found in Dong Son - Thanh Hoa. It is an original, unique, and valuable artifact, especially a typical invention and creation, with high practical value, promoting the development of society and people in the historical period - the Metal Age of Vietnam - the time when the Hung Kings built the country, the owner was an ancient Vietnamese.
Dong Son culture ceramic pot is a treasure of ancient Vietnamese people during the time of Hung Kings who founded the country. It was discovered, researched and highly appreciated by archaeologists in the hierarchy of Dong Son culture ceramics.
Within the framework of the program, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City announced the decision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the ranking of Ton Duc Thang Museum as Grade I, thereby increasing the total number of 7/7 Museums in Ho Chi Minh City to Grade I Museum standards.
With the aim of honoring the value of National Treasures, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City simultaneously organized the opening of the thematic exhibition "National Treasures - Heritage masterpieces in Ho Chi Minh City" . This is the first time that 17 National Treasures of public museums and private collectors in Ho Chi Minh City are displayed together, creating a comprehensive picture of Vietnamese history and culture from prehistoric to modern times.
The exhibition “National Treasures – Heritage Masterpieces in Ho Chi Minh City” is not only an important cultural event but also a bridge between the past, present and future, helping the public better understand the value of national cultural heritage, contributing to spreading awareness of protecting, preserving and promoting the values of Vietnamese cultural heritage.
The thematic exhibition will take place from June 29, 2025 to August 10, 2025 at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History - No. 02 Nguyen Binh Khiem, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
