The Da Nang Asian Film Festival, directed by the Da Nang People's Committee, organized by the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Vietnam Film Promotion and Development Association (VFDA), took place in Da Nang city from June 29 to July 5.
Attending the opening ceremony were Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung and many leaders of central ministries, departments and branches...
On the international guest side, there was Ms. Audrey Azoulay, Director General of UNESCO, along with many ambassadors and international diplomats .
Representing Da Nang City were comrade Nguyen Van Quang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee; comrade Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, and many delegates from agencies, departments, and organizations... in Da Nang.

Speaking at the program, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang said that he was particularly impressed to see that DANAFF has become more and more professional and methodical through each organization with rich content, expanded scale, diverse award categories and increasingly affirmed and honored artistic values.
He also said that it is noteworthy that the effective socialization organizational model has contributed to promoting social resources, connecting creative, production, management and business entities to expand creative space in culture. This is also the spirit clearly stated in the Party's strategic decisions...
Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang also requested the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism together with ministries, branches, especially theoretical and creative training institutions, professional social organizations such as the Vietnam Cinema Promotion and Development Association to hold a very meaningful event to continue to improve research capacity, strategic thinking and connectivity to shape a modern, humane, internationally integrated Vietnamese cinema imbued with national identity.
Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang affirmed that DANAFF needs to be oriented to become a prestigious international film festival in Asia - Pacific, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's cultural and creative position in the international arena, one of the important pillars for Da Nang to gradually become a UNESCO creative city in the near future.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival, Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, said that the Third Da Nang Asian Film Festival is an affirmation of Da Nang's development orientation to become a new center of cultural creativity and film industry in Vietnam and the region. Da Nang identifies cinema as not only an art, but also a driving force for economic development, a means of promoting the city's image, a bridge between people, a place to nurture and spread the values of truth, goodness and beauty.

Mr. Le Trung Chinh affirmed that Da Nang is extremely proud to welcome talented faces, artistic and creative works from all over the continent to gather, share and connect. Da Nang City will continue to promote investment, support and create the most favorable conditions for DANAFF to develop sustainably, professionally and with its own identity.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Audrey Azoulay, Director General of UNESCO, emphasized that the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival has changed in terms of scale, content and duration.
"This film festival amplifies the international recognition of Vietnamese cinema, as well as that of the entire region, from China to Kyrgyzstan, Japan, India and even Korea. We need everyone's voice," said Ms. Audrey Azoulay.

Ms. Audrey Azoulay also commented that Vietnam and especially Da Nang are becoming a place where ideas and creativity intersect, where culture generates culture; where youthful innovation meets traditional crafts and knowledge built up over generations, just a few kilometers away is Hoi An - a UNESCO World Heritage Site and also a creative city in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

The Organizing Committee of the 2025 Da Nang Asian Film Festival has honored veteran Korean director Im Kwon Taek for his outstanding achievements in his career. Due to health reasons, director Im Kwon Taek was unable to come to Da Nang to receive the Achievement Award in person.

The festival aims to select and honor outstanding cinematographic works, rich in humanistic values, with new discoveries and unique artistic expressions; connect and encourage new talents of Vietnamese cinema and the Asia-Pacific region; widely introduce to the public new cinematographic works, with high content and artistic values of Asia and Vietnam; promote the sustainable development of the young generation of filmmakers; contribute to promoting the image of Da Nang city as a creative, cultural and high-class tourism center in the region.

The opening ceremony began with a performance of Bài Chòi combined with the melody of the song "Vietnam, my homeland" by musician Do Nhuan performed by the Symphony Orchestra, as a special welcome from the land of Quang Nam - Da Nang to the Film Festival.
This year, the Danang Asian Film Festival expanded both in scale and quality of films participating in the categories.
The duration of this year’s Film Festival has increased from 5 days to 7 days. The total number of films selected for screening in the Festival’s programs has increased to 100 (compared to 46 films in the first season and 63 films in the second season). In addition, the number of film screenings has also increased to 200 compared to 100 in the previous season.

This year, for the first time, the Danang Asian Film Festival has the program “DANAFF Talents” - DANAFF Cinema Potential Talents with training and connection activities, developing film projects for young talents. The program includes training and connection activities, developing film projects for young, potential talents in the field of cinema with the theme of “Nurturing talent” in acting, “Project Incubator” for filmmakers.
The best project in the Asian art film category will receive a prize of 8,000 Euros from CNC - the French National Cinema Center, along with 3 months of intensive development support from Mylab - a mentoring and incubation program for independent film projects in Southeast Asia. In addition, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPA) will also award a prize of 5,000 USD to the best project in the category of Vietnamese film projects of all genres.
This year's film festival includes programs such as "Asian Cinema Panorama" with "Asian Film Critics Award", "Half a Century of Vietnamese War Films", seminars "Imprints of Vietnamese War Films since the Reunification of the Country" and "Korean Cinema: Lessons from International Success and Experience in Developing the Film Industry", the program "Today's Vietnamese Cinema" with 18 new Vietnamese films produced in the past year, and the program "Spotlight on Korean Cinema".
Many famous Korean artists, producers and filmmakers attended film screenings, interacted with audiences and exchanged experiences at programs and seminars within the framework of the Film Festival.
The two main film categories include Asian Film with 14 films and Vietnamese Film with 12 films.
