According to The Financial Times, two leading US chip manufacturers, Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), have agreed to share 15% of their product sales revenue in China with the US government in exchange for export licenses.
According to The Financial Times, a US official said that this revenue sharing ratio applies to Nvidia's H20 chip and AMD's MI308 chip. The official also informed that the US government has not yet decided how to use the proceeds.
The Financial Times said chipmakers had accepted the deal as a condition of obtaining export licenses to China, which they received last week.
Responding to Reuters news agency via email, a spokesperson for Nvidia affirmed that the company always complies with US government regulations to participate in global markets.
The spokesperson added that Nvidia has not exported H20 chips to China for months and expressed hope that export controls will help the US compete in China and around the world . AMD did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Last week, the US Commerce Department began issuing licenses for Nvidia to export H20 chips to China.
The move helps the leading company in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) chips overcome a major barrier to accessing this important market.
The decision reverses the ban on selling H20 chips to China that the US issued in April 2025.
Previously, to comply with AI chip export control regulations under the Joe Biden administration, Nvidia had to adjust its processors to suit the Chinese market./.
