In Khanh Binh commune, the guppy farming model was deployed by the commune's Steering Committee for Disease Prevention and Control to departments, branches, organizations, party members, medical teams, hamlet medical collaborators and especially replicated in households. During the farming process, households were instructed by medical staff on how to care for and release them into water containers to kill mosquito larvae. Seeing the benefits of disease prevention, people actively implemented it.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Cuong, Hamlet 19/5, Khanh Binh Commune, said: "After receiving information from the medical station, my family participated in raising guppies. Gradually, the fish grew in number. In addition to killing mosquito larvae at home, I also let the surrounding households replicate the model."

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thach, Medical Team of Hamlet 19/5, Khanh Binh Commune: "Up to now, more than 60% of households in the hamlet have implemented the guppy farming model. Every month, we come to supervise, instruct households on how to care for and release them into water containers to kill mosquito larvae."

Thanks to that, the epidemic in the commune has been well controlled. Since the beginning of the year, Khanh Binh commune has not recorded any cases of dengue fever. Doctor Nguyen Cong Tac, Head of Khanh Binh commune health station, said: "From the beginning of the year, the commune's Steering Committee for Disease Prevention and Control deployed the guppy fish farming model for departments, branches, organizations, local authorities and widely deployed among the people".

Nguyen Viet Khai Commune Health Station has maintained the model of raising guppies to kill mosquito larvae for many years. At the beginning of the rainy season, the Station has a large number of fish, supplying the hamlets. In addition, the quantity of guppies is also sufficient for community-based campaigns to kill mosquito larvae and mosquitoes.

Doctor To Hoang Vinh, Head of Nguyen Viet Khai Commune Health Station, said: “The health station has 6 large barrels of guppies, ensuring an adequate supply of fish for people to kill mosquito larvae. We regularly visit households to propagate, and at the same time bring guppies to release into water containers. After inspection, the rate of mosquito larvae and mosquitoes has decreased significantly. By the end of June 2025, Nguyen Viet Khai Commune recorded only 3 cases of dengue fever.”

In order for every citizen and every family to participate in preventing dengue fever, the health sector calls on the community to respond, with the message "Community action - repel dengue fever" .
