Witnessing the training sessions of the members of the unarmed combat team at the multi-purpose training facility of the Army Officer School 1 before the team left for the competition, we realized that the above achievements were worthy results for the training efforts of the whole team. Regardless of days off and breaks, the coaches and athletes always persevered with each exercise applied specifically for each weight category. Despite the high training intensity, sweat rolling down and soaking each face, the athletes still overcame fatigue and physical pain, determined to practice and compete to achieve the highest results, bringing glory to the school.

Captain Hoang Thang Son, a lecturer of the Martial Arts Department and an athlete of the national team, shared: “This year's tournament, the number of participating teams and athletes is larger than in previous years. Units throughout the army have many athletes who compete very professionally, with good techniques and tactics. Therefore, when competing, in order to win, we must be well prepared mentally." Competing in the 54-57kg weight class for the age group of 28 to 35, in the final match, Captain Hoang Thang Son met his opponent from the delegation of the General Staff of Military Region 9. This is an athlete with a lot of experience in the national sports seasons with the achievement of winning 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal. Captain Hoang Thang Son told himself that this was a decisive match so he had to try very hard. During the competition, comrade Son and his opponent struggled for each point. Reasonable tactics and timely instructions from the coach at decisive moments helped Captain Hoang Thang Son continuously launch overwhelming attacks on the opponent, thereby winning and winning the gold medal.

Private Bui Duc Anh, a first-year student of Company 18, Battalion 6, is an athlete who is participating in the school team for the first time. He shared: “For me, this is a big sports playground for athletes entering the military environment for the first time to have the opportunity to experience and try their hand at a new sport. First-time athletes like me cannot avoid being surprised by the opponents. We have just experienced but had to "weigh our brains" in each match, against strong and experienced opponents. When participating in the competition, I was determined but always told myself, whether I win or lose, this is still an experience, a chance to gain more experience for the following seasons." With the enthusiastic encouragement, guidance, guidance and instruction of the coach and teammates, Bui Duc Anh has gained more determination and overcome strong opponents.

Bui Duc Anh shared that during the short breaks, the coaches helped him relax his body, strengthen his spirit and remind him to quickly handle the tactics that had been trained to score points against his opponents. Bui Duc Anh surpassed himself to win the silver medal. After this competition, Bui Duc Anh and the athletes have more courage, confidence and determination of youth to continue participating in the following seasons to achieve higher results.

According to Colonel Nguyen Manh Cuong, Deputy Head of the Sports Department, Captain of the Unarmed Combat Team of the Army Officer School 1, during the training process, the coaches always try to grasp the psychology and abilities of each athlete, especially those who are competing for the first time. At the same time, the organization strictly maintains the training sessions, combining physical training with motor skills training of the athletes, combining technical training, competition tactics and adjusting the time, evaluating, and drawing experience through each day and each stage. During the competition days, the athletes are required to observe carefully to learn the tactics of the other team through each match, thereby applying and promoting their abilities, strengths, and specialties. Thanks to that, many athletes, although young and inexperienced, have competed with determination and courage, contributing to the overall achievements of the whole team, bringing glory to the Army Officer School 1.
