According to the Management Board of Traffic Construction Investment Projects of Tien Giang Province, the Project to Upgrade and Expand Provincial Roads 861, 863, 869 is invested to meet the needs of goods transportation and circulation of people in the western region of Tien Giang Province; between the western region, Tien Giang Province with Dong Thap and Long An provinces.

PEOPLE ARE EXCITED

In fact, the common feature of provincial roads 861, 863, 869 (located in Cai Be district) is that there are many narrow bridges on the route. Narrow, weak bridges create "bottlenecks" on the route, causing restrictions on people's travel and transportation of goods. In order to facilitate travel and promote local socio -economic development, the Provincial People's Committee has approved the investment policy for the Project to Upgrade and Expand Provincial Roads 861, 863, 869 with a total investment of more than 249 billion VND, of which the site clearance cost is 80.581 billion VND, from the central and provincial budgets.

On that basis, the Tien Giang Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board has focused on implementing the project's bidding packages. Accordingly, the bidding package for upgrading and expanding the road surface, drainage system, lighting and construction of 4 bridges on Provincial Road 869 (Ong Thach, Cong Trau, Bay Thuoc, Quan Cu) under the project has also been completed and put into use.

Recently, the construction package of Kinh Kho, Tam Thuoc, Dat Set bridges and Hai Tho culvert bridge (on provincial roads 861 and 863) has just been completed, accepted and put into use in the joy and excitement of the people. Mr. Tran Van Ngon (My Luoc hamlet, Thien Trung commune, Cai Be district) has a house near Hai Tho culvert bridge (on provincial road 863). According to Mr. Ngon, before, this was a weak bridge, people often fell when crossing. Therefore, when implementing the project, the people agreed to support and promptly handed over the site for construction. Putting the project into use has made the local people very excited, because in addition to convenient travel, it also helps people's agricultural production.

With a house located along provincial road 863, every day, Mr. Tran Van Thanh (Thien Trung commune, Cai Be district) has to travel across weak, narrow bridges. Therefore, when Dat Set bridge and Hai Tho culvert bridge were invested in and put into use, he could not hide his joy, saying: "In the past, Dat Set bridge and Hai Tho culvert bridge were very narrow and unsafe; now the state has invested in building new, spacious and airy bridges, everyone is very happy because traveling is convenient and safe."

The family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung (My Loi B commune, Cai Be district) has lived for many generations in the area next to Tam Thuoc bridge (on provincial road 861). According to Ms. Nhung, Tam Thuoc bridge has seriously degraded in recent times. There have been many cases of people falling while driving across the bridge. Currently, the bridge has been invested in by the state to be rebuilt, and the people are very supportive and supportive of handing over the site for construction. "When Tam Thuoc bridge was completed, people were very happy, they no longer had to endure the slippery conditions when it rained when crossing the bridge," Ms. Nhung said excitedly.

CONTINUE THE "JOURNEY" TO CONNECT THE SHORES OF JOY

In addition to the bridges and culverts that have just been completed and put into use, on provincial roads 861 and 863, there are still a number of narrow bridges that need investment to ensure synchronous connection. Accordingly, recently, the Management Board of Traffic Construction Investment Projects of Tien Giang province has coordinated with relevant units to hand over the site to the contractor to implement the construction package of Ngoc Lan bridge and Sau Binh bridge on provincial road 861 under the Project to Upgrade and Expand Provincial Roads 861, 863, 869. These are 2/3 of the remaining weak and narrow bridges on provincial road 861. Currently, the contractor is focusing on human and material resources to speed up the construction progress of the package to connect synchronously and smoothly on provincial road 861. According to the plan, Ngoc Lan bridge and Sau Binh bridge are expected to be completed by the end of August 2025.

In addition, Cai Be District People's Committee is also implementing the project to build 7 bridges and culverts on Provincial Road 863 with a total investment of more than 165 billion VND. According to Vice Chairman of Cai Be District People's Committee Phan Thanh Son, all 7 bridges and culverts on Provincial Road 863 have been constructed. Up to now, 6/7 bridges and culverts have achieved a progress of over 50%. In addition to the 7 bridges and culverts under construction, there are 5 other narrow bridges on Provincial Road 863; 1 remaining narrow bridge at the beginning of Provincial Road 861. Currently, these bridges are being reported for investment proposals. When these remaining bridges are invested, the "bottlenecks" on Provincial Road 863 will be removed, ensuring synchronous connectivity across the entire route.
