The role of people as subjects in building new rural areas

In the period 2020 - 2024, people of Cho Gao district participated in repairing and upgrading 47.7 km of rural roads.

Grassroots cadres, Front cadres, union members, and members of local organizations always take the lead in setting an example, taking concrete and clear actions, which is the best form of "mobilization" for people to follow. In addition, cadres, union members, and members directly come to the people, participate in working with the people, "keep the fire burning" for the movement to build new rural areas, thereby the people support, trust, and implement voluntarily and responsibly; creating efforts in each family, inter-family group, each residential area, each commune to complete the task of building new rural areas.

Building a new rural area is a program that has a large and comprehensive impact on rural society and the people, and the people are the beneficiaries of their own achievements. Therefore, it is always consistent to ensure that the main factor in building a new rural area is the people. To do that, Cho Gao district promotes propaganda work in both breadth and depth, such as building billboards, posters, direct, integrated, flyers, etc. to widely deploy, creating consensus and support from the people in the district.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Xuan Dong commune donated over 600 square meters ^of land and contributed 100 million VND in cash with the local Party Committee and government to build a new road in Tan Thanh - Tan Ninh hamlet.

Cho Gao district focuses on disseminating to households the Party and State's policies on new rural areas, promoting the subjectivity in building new rural areas as the people, the people doing, the people supervising, the people benefiting. At the same time, deploying and implementing synchronously policies on resource mobilization to implement the goals of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, focusing on promoting resources among the people through contributing working days, donating land, crops, and architectural objects, in which paying attention to capital sources of enterprises, credit capital, etc.

Mr. Tran Cong Nam, residing in Binh Tho Dong hamlet, Binh Phan commune, is one of the households participating with the people of Binh Tho Dong hamlet to donate land to expand the 520 m long Binh Tho Dong rural road project.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, residing in Tan Ninh hamlet, Xuan Dong commune, enthusiastically responded to the movement to build new rural areas. His family has just donated over 600 square ^meters of land and contributed 100 million VND in cash to join the local Party Committee and government in building a new road in Tan Thanh - Tan Ninh hamlet, making the rural area increasingly developed, creating conditions for people to travel, exchange goods, and develop the economy .

For Mr. Huynh Van Phuong, residing in Tan Thanh hamlet, Xuan Dong commune, who is a farmer who loves ornamental plants, he enthusiastically responded to the movement to beautify the rural environment. Not only in his house, but also on the nearly 200 m long road in front of his house, he and his family planted many types of ornamental plants and took care of them all year round. For many years, Mr. Phuong has been a typical example of contributing to the work of building the new rural area of ​​Xuan Dong commune.

The rural appearance of Cho Gao district has improved a lot since building new rural areas.

The total capital for implementing the New Rural Construction Program in Cho Gao district from 2011 to 2020 is 4,223 billion VND; of which, people's contributions account for 33.5%. Following that success, the total capital for implementing the New Rural Construction Program in the 2020 - 2024 period mobilized 1,131 billion VND; of which, people's contributions account for 14.89% of the total capital. In the 2020 - 2024 period, Cho Gao people participated in repairing and upgrading 47,700 km of rural roads; building 13 concrete bridges across canals and ditches; dredging 55 km of canals and ditches in the fields, clearing the flow, cutting down trees that obscured the view on rural roads, donating 20,997 ^m2 of land for roads and public works in residential areas.

Up to now, Cho Gao district has 18/18 new rural communes, 10/18 communes meeting the standards of advanced new rural communes, 1 model new rural commune, and a town meeting the standards of civilized urban areas. Cho Gao district was recognized by the Prime Minister as an advanced new rural district in 2024, the first district in Tien Giang province to meet the standards of advanced new rural district.

Cho Gao district focuses on economic development.

New Rural Construction is identified as an important stepping stone for comprehensive and long-term socio-economic development. Therefore, in addition to the participation of Party committees and authorities, the support of the people is considered one of the key factors in mobilizing social resources, contributing to the effective implementation of the New Rural Construction Program, making the picture of agriculture and rural areas increasingly prosperous. And from the results of New Rural Construction in Cho Gao district, it can be seen that the spillover effect from the role of the people is increasingly being promoted throughout the countryside.

Many criteria seem difficult to achieve, but when people participate, they all reap many successes. Because people understand that they are the subject, self-invest to improve production and business efficiency to escape poverty and get rich, contribute to building flower roads, "5 no 3 clean" houses, contribute to building cultural residential areas, cultural hamlets, cultural families, proactively maintain security and order in residential areas...

Therefore, in the coming time, after organizing the 2-level local government model, Cho Gao district needs to continue to promote propaganda work, raise awareness of both the political system and the people, continue to promote the potential and advantages of the locality in economic development, promote the role of the people joining hands to build the new rural area to improve the quality and further promote the achievements in building the new rural area that have been achieved over the past 10 years.
