Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh commented that today's program is a warm meeting of those who have built a transcontinental bridge between the two revolutionary presses of the two countries: Vietnamese journalists who have studied and worked in the beautiful country of Cuba.
According to the Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Vietnamese journalists will never forget the image of more than 50 years ago when Leader Fidel Castro raised the flag of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam on the 241 Tan Lam Hill (Quang Tri). He was the first foreign head of state to visit the liberated zone of South Vietnam when this land was still filled with gunpowder smoke.
This is not only a beautiful symbolic image of the solidarity and loyalty between the two brotherly nations, but also carries the essence of revolutionary journalism. The Vietnamese people and the Vietnamese press will never forget the immortal declaration of Leader Fidel Castro, a great friend of the Vietnamese people: "For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its own blood."
"Many years have passed in the thousands of changes of the times. Today's meeting is also an opportunity for us to review together meaningful memories of maturity, of teacher-student relationships, friendship, comradeship, of the difficulties and challenges during the years of studying and working in Cuba," said the President of the Vietnam Journalists Association.
In the context of the world and regional press having strong movements with the explosion of digital technology, many hostile forces relentlessly attacking on the ideological front, Mr. Le Quoc Minh made proposals to contribute to deepening the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba. Specifically:
(i) Promote information and propaganda about the meaning and importance of 65 years of traditional solidarity, special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.
(ii) Strengthen cooperation and exchange of press and media expertise between the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Cuban Journalists Association (UPEC) in the coming time.
(iii) On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press Day, the Vietnam Journalists Association respectfully invites the UPEC delegation to visit Vietnam and attend this celebration.

Speaking at the event, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Minh Son, Director of the Academy of Journalism and Communication, outlined the journey of friendship between the two brotherly nations. Cuban universities also welcomed many Vietnamese students, who shared the achievements and hardships of the Central American people, and soon became part of the initial force of the Vietnamese revolutionary press.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Minh Son, the veteran journalists sitting here today are those who have directly experienced, studied and grown up in Cuba, approached the revolutionary journalism rich in combativeness and learned from many talented experts. When returning home, they brought with them new knowledge and valuable professional experience, contributing to improving the quality and efficiency of domestic journalism activities. Many have held and are holding many important positions, promoting a core role in the cause of Vietnam's revolutionary journalism.

Also on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, the President of UPEC decided to award the Félix Elmusa Medal to five Vietnamese journalists who have made many contributions to the field of journalism, in order to promote the friendly and cooperative relations between UPEC and the Vietnam Journalists Association, as well as between journalists of the two countries. This is the most prestigious award for Cuban and international journalists.
In an interview with The Gioi va Viet Nam Newspaper , Mr. Nguyen Viet Thao, former Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association, expressed his honor to receive the Félix Elmusa Medal from UPEC.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Thao said that this is a common honor for the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, for the brothers who studied in Cuba and are currently working in the field of journalism. The Félix Elmusa Medal demonstrates the great similarities in politics, ideology, history and culture between the people of the two countries. Especially, in the context of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press turning 100 years old this year, today's award ceremony is even more meaningful, an affirmation of the typical revolutionary press in the present era.

According to him, the people of Vietnam and Cuba understand each other, come together, support each other, share the fire of fighting as well as the current difficulties in the process of building the country, first of all thanks to information in the press and media.
"In the past, we only knew about Cuba through newspapers, literature and art. Nowadays, although transportation has become more convenient, people of the two countries still understand each other mainly through newspapers and media," the former Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics emphasized.
After 65 years of sharing and bonding, each country now faces new, great but also heavy missions, goals and tasks. Especially, in the context of information and counter-information propaganda developing extremely diversely and complicatedly, there is even more need for more official, accurate and correct voices of the press of the two countries about each other.
Therefore, Mr. Nguyen Viet Thao hopes that Vietnamese journalists, especially young journalists, must be trained, nurtured, and self-trained in politics, ideology, and journalism in a more effective and quality manner. In particular, it is necessary to improve understanding of Cuba, the Cuban revolution, and leader Fidel Castro, as well as the close, loyal, and special brotherly relationship between the people of the two countries.
