Hanoi After surgery to remove excess fat from the lower eyelids and wrinkles at the corners of the eyes, a 50-year-old woman had blurred vision. Doctors discovered that she had retinal detachment and was at risk of blindness.
The patient had a history of congenital cataracts in the right eye, and myopia and astigmatism in the left eye. At Hanoi Eye Hospital 2, Dr. Mai Thi Anh Thu said that the patient's left eye had a retinal detachment with a tear, and the right eye had cataracts.
"The patient's vision has been mainly focused on the left eye. If surgery is not performed immediately, the patient could become permanently blind," said Dr. Thu on October 31.
Retinal detachment is a condition in which the retina is detached from its anatomical position. This is a serious disease in ophthalmology in general and a serious complication of eye trauma in particular. If not treated promptly, retinal detachment will cause permanent vision loss. In the above case, the doctor determined that retinal detachment was a complication of a cosmetic procedure on a patient with an eye disease.
According to Ms. Thu, cosmetic surgery to remove eye bags and crow's feet is a normal procedure but requires caution, especially for people with weak eyes or nearsightedness. Minor surgery to remove eye bags and implant them on the eyelids, when performed correctly and professionally, will not lead to the risk of retinal detachment. However, people with poor eyesight should consult an ophthalmologist before performing the procedure.

Eye bags or crow's feet appearing at the corners of the eyes are signs of age, health conditions, physical condition, genetic factors or many other causes such as frequently watching TV, reading books, working a lot on the computer, sewing...
To limit this condition, doctors recommend some remedies such as getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, reducing salt intake in the daily diet and limiting fried, greasy foods, massaging properly or using good eye masks.
