Apple fans will be disappointed that the smarthome hub product may be delayed. This is a highly anticipated feature, considered Apple's trump card in 2025.
After a series of hiccups and delays involving Siri, the chances of this product launching in 2025 are becoming increasingly slim. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, based on his speculation, asserts that the smarthome hub's launch will be pushed back to 2026.
“At this point, I’m pretty much dead set on a product launch this year. Instead, I’m predicting it will arrive in 2026, coinciding with the official introduction of the new Siri,” he wrote.
A smart home product will rely heavily on virtual assistants, as well as on the new version of App Intents. This is a feature that allows Siri to operate by voice, controlling apps and functions more precisely.
Apple had bet on a new Siri powered by Apple Intelligence, which was due to launch in March 2025, coinciding with the release of iOS 18.4. Due to quality concerns, the launch of the new Siri was pushed back to iOS 18.5 in May. However, just a few weeks later, Apple postponed the event again. Users only know that the feature will be released sometime next year.
Before that, almost everyone thought that Apple would introduce this product around March. Social networks spread this information throughout 2024. Almost all the main specifications have been leaked, including a 7-inch square screen with thick bezels, a camera on the top, a built-in rechargeable battery...
The delay in the launch of the smarthome hub is more than just a product setback, putting Apple at risk of falling further behind in the smart home race. Rivals Amazon with Alexa and Google with Assistant have both been strong players in the smart home market for years.
