At exactly 8:00 a.m. on July 16, the Ministry of Education and Training officially announced the 2025 high school graduation exam scores. Accordingly, more than 1.16 million candidates nationwide can look up the results on the Ministry's system and local Departments of Education and Training.
According to analysis from the Ministry of Education and Training and experts, this year's score distribution has some notable features: Math and English have a "surprisingly beautiful" score distribution, evenly distributed, not too concentrated in low or high scores. Literature does not have a score of 10, but the average score is stable, reflecting a gentle differentiation. Subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History... all have a significant number of exams with a score of 10 (from 600 to nearly 7,000 exams), showing that this year's exam encourages differences, in line with the nature of student differentiation. New subjects such as Technology - Industry, Informatics, Economics and Law have a fairly high score distribution (Informatics average 6.78, Agricultural Technology is the highest with 7.72), proving that the orientation of the 2018 general education program is on the right track.
The score distribution also shows that many combinations have clear differentiation, especially combinations with Math, Chemistry, and English. According to forecasts, the benchmark scores for natural science majors or those with Math - Chemistry - English may decrease slightly compared to last year. For example, candidates who scored 26 A00 points (Math - Physics - Chemistry) can refer to schools that fluctuated around 23-28 points last year, helping to increase their chances when adjusting their wishes.
After the scores are announced, candidates have 10 days (from July 16 to July 25) to submit a review if there are signs of errors. At the same time, from July 16 to July 28, candidates can register and adjust their wishes without limit. This is the last chance for candidates to optimize their chances of admission based on their achieved scores and the general score distribution.
What both candidates and parents are excited about is that in previous years, after the announcement of the high school graduation exam scores, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the score distribution, but this year, the score distribution was announced one day in advance. That demonstrates transparency and at the same time creates great convenience for candidates in university and college admissions.
The 2025 high school graduation exam scores are not only a measure of the candidates’ efforts over 12 years of studying, but also an important basis for them to adjust their wishes, conduct re-examinations, as well as provide career guidance in the upcoming period. Although the university and college admission scores may change this year, as long as candidates and parents use the information proactively, flexibly and wisely, the opportunity to be admitted will be more open than ever.
