Staying up all night preparing gifts for soldiers
Along Lieu Giai - Van Cao street since 9am this morning, despite the rain, people have been holding umbrellas, wearing raincoats, and laying tarps to wait until evening to watch the parades pass by. The whole family of 5 people, Ms. Ha Thi Thuy, drove from Hung Yen to Hanoi, parked their car at Vincom Nguyen Chi Thanh, walked to Van Cao street, near Quan Ngua Sports Palace, laid out tarps to wait.
“This is the third time my family has come from Hung Yen to watch the parade. The two times we practiced in front of my house, we also lined up on this route but in a different area. My husband and I are freelancers so we can arrange our time freely. My family really admires the soldiers participating in the parade, and being able to watch it live makes us very proud,” Ms. Thuy shared.

Sitting on a tarp since 9am in this area is a group of young people from Lang Pagoda.
“Some of us went for the first time, some went for the second time so we had experience, so we chose the area near the Horse Racing Sports Palace to have the opportunity to take photos and interact with the soldiers after the parade to the gathering point,” said a female student.
Notably, arriving at Van Cao Street at 8am this morning when Hanoi was still raining, the owner of Loves Cake bakery (67 Tay Son, Hanoi) and the shop's staff excitedly said: "For us, 'heavy rain is light rain, light rain is no rain'. The spirit of patriotism is always in our hearts, the rain does not make us falter."
It is known that this is the third time the bakery owner and staff have gone to watch the parade. They chose a location near the Quan Ngua Sports Palace to shake hands with the soldiers when they finished their mission. This is the final gathering place before the soldiers board their vehicles to march back to their units, giving people the opportunity to shake hands with the soldiers in the parade.

A bakery employee boasted: “I didn’t sleep all night, sitting there folding gifts to give to the soldiers participating in the parade today.” The gifts this female employee gave to the soldiers were candy and handwritten letters.
“My relative is a soldier in the parade of the Mobile Police Men’s Bloc. Seeing the soldiers train hard and arduously, we feel very sympathetic and proud, and feel even more patriotic,” said this female employee.

A group of three young girls from Vinh Yen Ward (Phu Tho) who went to Hanoi came up with the idea for a trip to watch the parade on the occasion of April 30. Nguyen Thi Ngoc said that this was a rare opportunity: "Young people only have one chance to participate in A80, so we decided to go together. Although we really wanted to go to Hanoi on the main holiday of September 2, we had to go to work that day so we had to go first."
Eager to witness the proud moment
Ms. Le Thi Hoang Anh (54 years old), along with hundreds of people, set up chairs quite early right in front of the Trang Tien Ice Cream store. She shared that her house is in Thuy Nguyen - Hai Phong. Since 3am this morning, she and 11 friends rented a car to go to Hanoi to wait to watch the parade rehearsal.
Many days ago, she had carefully studied the route the parade would take, and found that Trang Tien Street looked favorable, so she invited her friends to go early.
“Not only did we rent a car, we also booked a hotel in Trang Tien a month ago, at a reasonable price, 500k/person/night. Tonight, after watching the parade, we will sleep there and tomorrow we will go sightseeing around Hanoi,” Ms. Hoang Anh said excitedly.

On the train from Ha Dong to Cat Linh, veteran Luu Quoc Bao, 70 years old, from Cao Bang, emotionally shared: “As a soldier who went through the arduous war years, today, in the joy of the whole country, I returned from Cao Bang to Hanoi to join the crowd of people excitedly going to watch the parade rehearsal. So happy and proud!”
The old veteran’s eyes lit up with emotion when he talked about his brother, a martyr who died in 1968: “I believe that my brother and his comrades who remained on the old battlefield, if they could see it, would be very happy. Today is not only a source of pride for the living, but also a source of comfort for the deceased.”
“It has been many years since the country has had such a solemn, sacred and heroic day. Witnessing this moment is a great happiness in my life,” said Mr. Bao. On all the streets, from early morning, streams of people from old to young were rushing and eagerly pouring into the central area. No one wanted to miss this historic moment – a festival of patriotism, of memories and national pride. Mr. Bao hoped that he would be able to get a convenient position in time to relive the heroic atmosphere in the footsteps of the parade.
Right in front of the Workers' Theater, from 12:30, hundreds of people were already waiting. One of them was the family of four of Ms. Hoang Thi Quynh Trang in Thanh Oai, Hanoi. Talking about lining up early, Ms. Trang excitedly said: "A few days ago, my family arrived late so we couldn't watch, today we decided to go early. Because we are self-employed, this morning we closed the shop, took the elevated train at 10am, arrived at Cat Linh station, took a taxi to Bo Ho just in time for the traffic closure."

Because there are small children in the house, her family has prepared food, drinks, umbrellas, and paper raincoats to bring along. Ms. Trang said she will be ready to stay here until the end of the parade because it only happens once every 80 years, even though it is a bit difficult, the whole family is still happy and excited...
